कर्क लग्न में चंद्रमा आमतौर पर व्यक्ति को गौर वर्ण का बनाता है। उसके चेहरे में एक विशेष प्रकार का आकर्षण होता है और इसी आकर्षण के कारण वह दूसरों का विश्वास जीतने में बहुत सफल होता है। इसका दूसरा कारण यह भी है कि वह दूसरों का विश्वास इसलिए भी करता है कि उसके मन में दूसरों के प्रति सहानुभूति की मात्रा काफी हद तक होती है और वह अपने किसी मन्तव्य या खुदगर्जी का ध्यान न करते हुए, दूसरों के काम आने की क्षमता रखता है तथा दूसरों के संकट में अपनी ओर से, और अपने सच्चे मन से अच्छा योगदान देता है।

पहले भाव का जिक्र करते हुए चंद्रमा के बारे में हमारे पुराने ज्योतिषी श्री काशीनाथ का विचार है कि जब चंद्रमा लग्न में हो तो ऐसे व्यक्ति आलसी होते हैं। वास्तव में, यह विचार मेरे अपने अनुभव के अनुसार देखने में नहीं आता। यहाँ पर ‘आलसी’ शब्द को ठीक अर्थ में नहीं समझा गया। देखा जाता है कि कर्क लग्न के व्यक्ति बहुत ही शांत स्वभाव के होने के कारण उनके दिल में किसी भी चीज को जल्दी प्राप्त करने की कोई बहुत तीव्र इच्छा नहीं होती। और इसलिए वह अपने जीवन में किसी भी काम को बहुत जल्दी नहीं करते। अतः किसी कार्य को जल्दी न करना और बात है तथा किसी व्यक्ति का आलसी होना अलग बात है। ऐसे लोग किसी भी काम को या अपने मन में आए किसी भी विचार को करने के लिए जल्दी नहीं करते, जिसको दूसरे लोग शायद आलसी समझ लेते हैं।

ज्योतिष के महान विद्वान आचार्य गर्ग का मत है कि यदि पहले भाव में चंद्र क्षीण हो, यानी चंद्र कृष्णपक्ष का या शुक्लपक्ष में प्रतिपदा से अष्टमी तक का हो, तो वह लग्न की शक्ति को कुछ सीमा तक कमजोर कर देता है। यह बात चंद्रमा के पहले भाव में होने पर दूसरे लग्नों पर तो हो सकती है किंतु कर्क राशि में चंद्रमा होने के कारण से इस चंद्रमा से लग्न को बल ही मिलता है। ऐसे व्यक्ति दुनियादारी तौर पर बहुत अच्छे समझे जाते हैं और आर्थिक स्थिति के तौर पर भी उनके जीवन में अच्छा प्रभाव ही पड़ता है।

वास्तव में, आर्थिक जीवन पर अच्छा प्रभाव कहना भी कर्क लग्न में बैठे हुए चंद्रमा का पूर्ण वर्णन नहीं है। चंद्रमा हमारी मन की शांति का कारक है और कर्क लग्न में बैठा हुआ चंद्रमा हमारे मन की शांति पर बहुत शुभ असर डालता है। किसी भी व्यक्ति को मन की शांति तभी प्राप्त होती है जब आर्थिक हालत से या जीवन की दूसरी स्थितियों से उसको अड़चनों का सामना न करना पड़े।

वैसे भी कर्क लग्न वालों के लिए भाग्य स्थान में बृहस्पति की राशि होने के कारण से और चंद्रमा स्वयं लग्न में अपनी राशि में इतना शक्तिशाली होने के कारण से यहाँ पर चंद्रमा का फल बहुत शुभ रहता है।

कर्क लग्न में चंद्रमा होने से व्यक्ति के जीवन में अपनी पत्नी के अलावा या स्त्री की कुंडली में अपने नजदीकी रिश्तेदारों के अलावा दूसरी स्त्रियों का शुभ प्रभाव काफी मात्रा में पड़ता है। विशेषकर पुरुषों की कुंडली में, चंद्रमा जब लग्न भाव में होता है तो ऐसे पुरुष के जीवन में किसी-न-किसी स्त्री का योगदान उसके भाग्य की वृद्धि के लिए प्राप्त होता है तथा ऐसे योगदान से किसी हद तक उसका भाग्य उदय होता है या उसे अपनी कठिनाई की स्थिति में सहायता प्राप्त होती है।

इसी मत को व्यक्त करते हुए हमारे एक प्राचीन ज्योतिषी श्री काशीनाथ का कहना है कि कर्क लग्न वालों को स्त्रियाँ बहुत प्रिय होती हैं। वास्तव में, इस बात को बारीकी से समझना हो तो यह कहना चाहिए कि ऐसे व्यक्ति स्त्रियों को बहुत प्रिय होते हैं।

हिलाजातक ग्रंथ में जिक्र आता है कि लग्न में बैठा हुआ चंद्रमा व्यक्ति को 27वें वर्ष की आयु में रोग देता है। यह बात किसी और लग्न पर तो लागू हो सकती है, लेकिन कर्क लग्न में बैठे हुए चंद्रमा के बारे में यह कहना ठीक नहीं है। वास्तव में, हमारे जीवन पर चंद्रमा का विशेष प्रभाव हमारी 24 वर्ष की आयु में पड़ता है। पहले घर में चंद्रमा होने के समय व्यक्ति को 24वें साल में विशेष शुभ फल मिलते हैं और इसका व्यक्ति की माता, स्वास्थ्य तथा मन की शांति पर भी अच्छा प्रभाव पड़ता है।

लाल किताब में जिक्र आता है कि कर्क राशि में चंद्रमा होने के समय यदि व्यक्ति अपनी माता की मृत्यु से पहले चंद्रमा की कारक वस्तु यानी चावल, माँ के हाथों से लेकर जीवन-भर अपने पास रखे तो यह चंद्रमा को पूर्ण रूप से स्थापित करने जैसा है, जिसके फलस्वरूप उस व्यक्ति के भाग्य में वृद्धि होती है तथा मन की शांति पर भी इसका अच्छा प्रभाव पड़ता है।

एक प्राचीन ज्योतिष पद्धति ‘यवन मत’ के अनुसार वर्णन आता है कि लग्न में चंद्रमा होने से व्यक्ति को स्त्री का यानी अपनी पत्नी का वियोग सहना पड़ता है। यह बात कुछ सीमा तक सच तो है, लेकिन जिन शब्दों में यह प्रकट किया गया है शायद वह कर्क लग्न में बैठे हुए चंद्रमा के साथ पूरा इंसाफ नहीं है। कर्क लग्न में चंद्रमा होने से व्यक्ति के मन में घूमने-फिरने या सैर-सपाटे की इच्छा काफी मात्रा में होती है। कई बार ऐसे व्यक्ति सेल्समैन वगैरह का काम भी करते हैं, और कई बार उनको समुद्री जहाजों आदि की नौकरियाँ भी करनी पड़ती हैं। ऐसी हालत में उनके जीवन में ऐसे मौके आते हैं, जब उन्हें लंबे समय तक अपनी स्त्री से दूर रहना पड़ता है। लेकिन यह वियोग या दूर रहना लंबे समय के लिए नहीं होता। अतः इसे वियोग कहना उचित नहीं, बल्कि यह कहना चाहिए कि अपनी स्त्री से कुछ समय के लिए दूर रहता है। शायद इस कारण से वह एक-दूसरे को ज्यादा याद करते हैं और उनके आपसी प्रेम-भाव में किसी तरह की कमी नहीं आती।

मेरे अपने विचार के अनुसार कर्क लग्न में बैठे चंद्रमा से व्यक्ति में यह विशेष गुण उत्पन्न हो जाता है कि वह कभी भी दूसरों की नकलतानी नहीं करता, चाहे दूसरों का व्यवहार उनको अच्छा भी न लगे। इसी तरह से वह अपने व्यवसाय से काफी हद तक संतुष्ट रहते हैं और दूसरों को देखकर या उनके प्रभाव में आकर अपने व्यवसाय को बदलने की भी कोशिश नहीं करते।

चंद्रमा प्रथम के समय यदि शनि-केतु या शनि-राहु आठवें घर में हो तो ऐसे व्यक्ति के जन्म से पहले किसी भाई-बहन या किसी और नजदीकी रिश्तेदार की मृत्यु होने की संभावना रहती है।

कर्क लग्न वालों के लिए पहले घर में चंद्र के साथ बृहस्पति हो तो यह अपने आप में बहुत शुभ योग है। इससे व्यक्ति की विद्या ऊँचे दर्जे की होती है और ऐसा व्यक्ति अपनी मेहनत से धन कमाता है। सामाजिक तौर पर भी दूसरे लोग ऐसे व्यक्ति का सम्मान करते हैं।

कर्क लग्न में यदि चंद्रमा के साथ सूर्य हो और किसी अशुभ ग्रह की दृष्टि न पड़ती हो तो ऐसा व्यक्ति राजा के समान होता है। लेकिन यदि सूर्य और चंद्रमा पर किसी अशुभ ग्रह की दृष्टि पड़ती हो तो कई बार ऐसे व्यक्ति की मृत्यु अचानक होती है।

कर्क लग्न में चंद्रमा के साथ शुक्र होने से शादी के दिन के बाद व्यक्ति पर किसी-न-किसी तरह का अशुभ प्रभाव पड़ने की संभावना रहती है। इसका अशुभ असर व्यक्ति की माता पर भी पड़ता है। कुछ हालातों में व्यक्ति की पत्नी और माता के आपसी संबंध भी बहुत अच्छे नहीं रहते।

कर्क लग्न में चंद्रमा के साथ मंगल का होना व्यक्ति को कोई विशेष शुभ फल नहीं देता। इसका कारण यह है कि कर्क लग्न में मंगल नीच हो जाता है, जिसके कारण वह चंद्रमा की सहायता करने में असमर्थ रहता है। ऐसे लोगों को छोटी-सी बात पर गुस्सा आने की संभावना बनी रहती है।

पहले घर में चंद्रमा के साथ बुध का होना भी बहुत अच्छा प्रभाव नहीं देता। लेकिन यदि किसी और ग्रह की अशुभ दृष्टि न पड़ती हो तो ऐसे व्यक्तियों को गायन तथा कला संबंधी किसी-न-किसी किस्म का शौक बना रहता है।

पहले घर में चंद्रमा के साथ शनि का होना कोई शुभ फल नहीं देता। लाल किताब में चंद्र-शनि की युति को ‘अंधा घोड़ा’ या ‘दरिया में बहता हुआ मकान’ कहा है। दूसरे शब्दों में, इसका अर्थ यह है कि ऐसे व्यक्ति के जीवन में स्थिरता नहीं आती और उसका भावनात्मक जीवन भी शांतिपूर्ण नहीं होता। ऐसे लोगों को जीवन में कई प्रकार की मुश्किलों का सामना भी करना पड़ता है।

पहले घर में चंद्र के साथ राहु का होना व्यक्ति के मन की अवस्था के लिए बुरा प्रभाव देता है। बिना कारण ही ऐसे व्यक्ति के मन में भविष्य के बारे में एक प्रकार का डर बना रहता है और जीवन में सुख मिलने पर भी उनका भोग पूरी तरह से नहीं कर पाता। यह एक प्रकार का चंद्र-ग्रहण जैसा ही फल है।

पहले घर में चंद्र के साथ केतु का होना चंद्र और केतु दोनों के ही फल को अशुभ कर देता है। चंद्र यानी माता और केतु यानी व्यक्ति का बेटा, दोनों के भाग्य व स्वास्थ्य आदि के लिए इसका असर अच्छा नहीं पड़ता। कुछ हालातों में ऐसे लोगों को मानसिक रोग या मानसिक तौर पर बेकार के भ्रम पैदा होने की संभावना रहती है।

The great astrological scholar Acharya Garga held the view that if the Moon in the first house is waning—meaning it is in the dark half of the lunar month (*Krishna Paksha*) or the first eight days of the bright half (*Shukla Paksha*)—it weakens the strength of the Ascendant to some extent. While this may hold true for other Ascendants, the Moon in Cancer actually *strengthens* the Ascendant. Such individuals are regarded as excellent in their dealings with the world, and the Moon exerts a positive influence on their financial well-being.

In fact, merely noting the positive impact on financial life does not fully capture the significance of the Moon placed in the Cancer Ascendant. The Moon governs our peace of mind, and when positioned in the Cancer Ascendant, it exerts a highly auspicious influence on our mental tranquility. A person attains peace of mind only when they do not face obstacles arising from their financial situation or other life circumstances.

For those with Cancer as their Ascendant (Lagna), the Moon yields highly auspicious results; this is because the Moon is situated in its own sign within the Ascendant—making it exceptionally powerful—and the house of fortune is ruled by Jupiter.

With the Moon in the Cancer Ascendant, other women—beyond one's wife (for men) or close female relatives (for women)—exert a significant positive influence on the individual's life. Particularly in a man's horoscope, when the Moon occupies the Ascendant, a woman often contributes to the enhancement of his fortune; such a contribution can lead to a rise in his luck or provide vital assistance during times of hardship.

The *Lal Kitab* suggests that if an individual—while the Moon is in Cancer—receives a significator item of the Moon (such as rice) from their mother's hands before her passing and keeps it with them throughout their life, it is akin to fully establishing the Moon's energy; this leads to an enhancement of fortune and a positive effect on peace of mind.

According to the 'Yavan Mat'—an ancient astrological tradition—it is stated that having the Moon in the Ascendant causes the individual to endure separation from a woman, specifically their wife. While there is some truth to this notion, the way it is expressed perhaps does not do full justice to the implications of having the Moon in the Cancer Ascendant. A Cancer Ascendant with the Moon often instills a strong desire for travel or excursions in the individual. Such people frequently work in roles like sales, or sometimes take up jobs involving sea voyages. Consequently, situations arise where they must remain away from their wives for extended periods. However, this separation is not permanent; thus, it is more accurate to describe it as a temporary period of being apart rather than a true separation. Perhaps because of this, they miss each other deeply, and their mutual affection remains undiminished.

In my view, the Moon in the Cancer Ascendant fosters a distinct quality in the individual: they never criticize or find fault with others, even if they dislike the other person's behavior. Similarly, they remain largely satisfied with their own profession and do not attempt to change it simply by observing or being influenced by others.
