बारहवें घर में बैठा हुआ शुक्र अपने आप में अजीब किस्म की संभावनाएँ रखता है। वह अपनी जवानी में चरित्रहीन व्यक्ति हो सकता है और वही व्यक्ति अपनी आयु में जब बुढ़ापे की ओर बढ़ने लगता है तो ऐसा साधु भी हो सकता है जिसके हाथ में बहुत लोगों का कल्याण होना लिखा हो। लेकिन, हमारे बहुत से प्राचीन ग्रंथों में द्वादश भाव में शुक्र होने को बुरी दृष्टि से देखा गया है। कुछ ऐसे ग्रंथ भी हैं, जिनमें शुक्र की बहुत तारीफ की गई है। उदाहरण के तौर पर 'चमत्कार चिंतामणि' में इस घर के शुक्र के बारे में लिखा गया है कि ऐसा व्यक्ति गुणहीन, कीर्तिहीन, झगड़ालू और मित्रों से भी बैर करने वाला होता है। हमारे ज्योतिष के दूसरे महान ग्रंथ 'फलदीपिका' में इस घर के शुक्र के बारे में कहा गया है कि ऐसा होने से व्यक्ति धनवान, तेजस्वी तथा स्त्री सुख से युक्त होता है। वास्तव में, यह दोनों वर्णन शुक्र के साथ पूरा न्याय नहीं कर रहे। शुक्र के प्रभाव को इस स्थान में समझने के लिए हमें और भी बहुत बातों का ध्यान रखना होगा। इस घर पर यदि शुक्र के ऊपर किसी बुरी प्रकार की दृष्टि न पड़ती हो तो उस व्यक्ति की रुचियों में ये शुक्र बहुत बड़ी क्रांति पैदा करता है। ऐसा इंसान अपनी सत्ताईस साल की उम्र तक अपनी कीर्ति की कोई इतनी बड़ी चिंता नहीं करता। वह अपने जीवन को पूरी तरह से भोगना चाहता है जिस्मानी तौर पर, जिसमें शराब या दूसरे नशे आदि भी शामिल हो जाते हैं। दूसरे शब्दों में, वह जिंदगी को पूरी तरह से जानना और जी भरकर जीने का इच्छुक होता है। ऐसा व्यक्ति किसी-न-किसी तरह की रचनात्मक रचना भी करता है। लेकिन अपनी अट्ठाईस वर्ष की आयु के पश्चात् उस व्यक्ति में कुछ संजीदगी पैदा होने की संभावना रहती है और फिर आहिस्ता आहिस्ता उसकी उम्र बढ़ती है तो उसका मन आध्यात्म की ओर भी भागना शुरू होता है। उम्र के उनसठवें साल से उसकी आध्यात्मिक रुचि और गहरी जड़ पकड़ जाती है जो उम्म्र के साथ-साथ फलती है। यही कारण है कि यहाँ पर शुभ शुक्र मोक्ष का कारक भी माना गया है। इसके बारे में एक मृगु सूत्र का मत है कि वह व्यक्ति मृत्यु के बाद अच्छी गति प्राप्त करता है। इसीलिए मेरा विचार है कि शुक्र के बारे में जिन ग्रंथों ने केवल बहुत भयानक और डरावने वर्णन दिए हैं, वह शुक्र की जवानी की अवस्था में किसी हद तक ठीक हो सकते हैं। लाल किताब के अनुसार शुक्र का हमारे जीवन पर प्रभाव आयु के पच्चीस से लेकर सत्ताईस साल तक पड़ता है। शायद सत्ताईस साल की आयु तक इस तरह के वर्णन, मेरा भाव है कि शुक्र के बारे में अशुभ वर्णन किसी हद तक ठीक हो सकते हैं, किंतु उसके पश्चात् विशेषकर बुढ़ापे में आकर शुक्र व्यक्ति में एक शुभ प्रकार की तब्दीली पैदा करता है और कई बार वह तब्दीली इस हद तक होती है, कि हमें यह जानना ही मुश्किल हो जाता है कि क्या ये वही व्यक्ति है जो जवानी में अपनी जेबें बदनामी से भरे फिरता था। बुढ़ापे में आकर वह ईश्वर का एक जीता-जागता अंश प्रतीत होने लगता है। बारहवें घर में शुक्र होने से और विशेषकर शुक्र यदि अशुभ हालत में पड़ा हो तो इंसान को अपनी आध्यात्मिक मंजिल तक पहुँचने में उसके लिए रुकावटें पैदा करता है और ऐशो-आराम ही जिंदगी का मकसद है- ये धारणा व्यक्ति के मन में मजबूत होती है। भृगु सूत्र का ये विचार सच है कि शुक्र यहाँ अशुभ ग्रह के साथ हो तो इंसान मरकर नर्क भोगता है। लेकिन यदि शुभ ग्रह की संगति हो तो मरने के बाद शुभ गति पाता है। ये बात जिंदगी के नजरिए के बारे में भी सच है। इंसान चेतन तौर पर यदि शुक्र के स्वभाव को पहचान ले तो यही जिंदगी उसके लिए मुक्ति पाने का श्रेष्ठ साधन सिद्ध हो सकती है। हमारे बहुत से प्राचीन ज्योतिष ग्रंथों में ये वर्णन भी बार-बार आता है कि यहाँ शुक्र होने से व्यक्ति का चरित्र बहुत खराब हो जाता है और उसके ऐसे प्रेम-संबंध बनते हैं जो उसकी जिंदगी को पूरी तरह बरबाद कर देते हैं और वह जीवन-भर बदनामी भोगता है। मैं यह मानता हूँ कि यह बात यहाँ शुक्र होने की हालत में कुछ हद तक ठीक होती है, लेकिन इसका वास्तविक अर्थ यह है कि उस व्यक्ति के मूल स्वभाव में रंगीन मिजाजी जरूर होती है। पर इसके साथ उस इंसान की जिंदगी पर बुरा प्रभाव भी पड़े या वह जीवन-भर बदनामी के दलदल में दबा रहे, यह बात सत्य से बहुत दूर है। यहाँ पर कुछ हालातों में यदि शुक्र कमजोर हो तो उसके चरित्र में किसी-न-किसी तरह के दाग लगने की संभावना जरूर रहती है। इस भाव में कमजोर शुक्र के साथ यदि चंद्रमा हो तो उस व्यक्ति के चरित्र में कुछ बुरी बातें अवश्य आ जाती हैं। उसका पर-स्त्री से संबंध होना या बड़ी देर तक किसी औरत को रखैल की तरह रखना, यह बातें संभव हो सकती हैं। विशेषकर ऐसी स्थिति तुला लग्न वालों के लिए हो सकती है। उस हालत में शुक्र लग्नेश होकर अपने से बारहवें स्थान नीच राशि में बैठता है। लेकिन फिर भी यह बात यहाँ पर चंद्रमा होने के बगैर होना संभव नहीं होती। इसका कारण यह है कि चंद्रमा हमारे मन का कारक है और चंद्रमा लाल किताब के अनुसार बारहवें घर में बहुत अशुभ होता है। बारहवें घर में चंद्रमा को 'खुशी पर काला पर्दा' पुकारा जाता है। इसीलिए चंद्रमा का मन का कारण होने से, मन वश से बाहर हो जाता है और किसी सामाजिक सीमा का ध्यान नहीं रखता। उस हालत में जवानी का कुछ हिस्सा इस तरह के पर-स्त्री संबंधों के कारण खराब हो सकता है। देखने में आया है कि यदि इस घर में शुक्र के साथ बृहस्पति हो तो ऐसे संबंध आमतौर से गुप्त रहते हैं। ऐसी स्थिति में उस व्यक्ति के चरित्र में कमी तो हो सकती है, लेकिन सामाजिक तौर पर बदनामी हो ये जरूरी नहीं होता। हाँ, यहाँ पर अशुभ मंगल या शनि का शुक्र के साथ होना बदनामी का कारण बन सकता है। मेरे अपने विचार से वृष लग्न वालों के लिए बारहवें घर में बैठा हुआ शुक्र कोई बहुत अशुभ फल नहीं देता। कई बार देखने में आता है कि यहाँ शुक्र होने से व्यक्ति की धन कमाने की शक्ति और भी बढ़ जाती है। यहाँ शुक्र व्यक्ति को भोग विलास की चीजों और आराम से रहने की इच्छा आदि को तेज करता है। वहीं पर साथ में बैठा हुआ मंगल उसमें ये हिम्मत पैदा करता है कि वह अपने जीवन के सुख-साधनों को पैदा करने के लिए पूरी तरह से कोशिश भी करे और उसमें धन कमाने की हिम्मत भी हो। 'सारावली' नामक ग्रंथ में कहा गया है कि यहाँ शुक्र होने से व्यक्ति आलसी होता है और साथ में लिखा है कि वह व्यक्ति सुखी होता है। मेरे विचार में वृष लग्न वालों के लिए उस व्यक्ति का आलसी होना सच से बहुत दूर लगता है। लाल किताब में बारहवें भाव के शुक्र की बहुत प्रशंसा की गई है। लाल किताब के एक फरमान के अनुसार यहाँ पर बैठा हुआ शुक्र आड़े वक्त में हर जगह सहायता करने वाली साक्षात् देवी होती है और यहाँ पर शुक्र, व्यक्ति को भवसागर से पार करने वाली गाय की तरह सहायता करता है। यदि हम ध्यान से देखें तो शुक्र पत्नी का कारक है और इसका अर्थ यह है कि उस व्यक्ति की पत्नी उसके जीवन में बहुत बड़ा योगदान करती है। जब भी कभी उस पर मुश्किल का समय हो तो उसकी पत्नी का अपना भाग्य ही उसको हर मुसीबत से बाहर निकाल लेता है। यदि वह व्यक्ति अपनी पत्नी अर्थात् जीवन के इस भवसागर से पार करनेवाली गऊ की हर तरह से इज्जत करे तो उसकी पत्नी उसके भाग्य की बहुत बड़ी मालिक होगी। ऐसे व्यक्ति के जन्म के समय बेशक धन के नाम पर मिट्टी उड़ती हो, लेकिन शादी के दिन से उसका भाग्य उदय होना शुरू होगा। ऐसी हालत में पति और पत्नी का आपसी सुख कम से कम सैंतीस साल तक जरूर रहेगा। यहाँ कहने का भाव यह है कि शादी के सैंतीस साल की आयु तक पति-पत्नी का वियोग नहीं होगा। लाल किताब में ही आगे वर्णन आता है कि हर मुसीबत के समय पहले उस व्यक्ति की पत्नी खुद मुसीबत को झेलेगी। उसके बाद ही पति को कोई तकलीफ होगी, इसलिए उस व्यक्ति की औरत की सेहत ज्यादा अच्छी नहीं रहती, क्योंकि वह मर्द के बुरे वक्त को अपने आप पर झेलती हुई अपने जीवन का काफी हिस्सा अपने परिवार पर लगा देती है। ऐसी हालत में उस व्यक्ति के भाग्य में और भी उन्नति होगी, यदि वह औरत के नाम पर या अपनी पत्नी के हाथों दान करवाता रहे। ऐसा करना उसकी पत्नी के बारे में बहुत अच्छा फल देगा। साथ में ये शर्त भी है कि यदि ऐसा व्यक्ति नास्तिक हो या परमात्मा को याद न रखे, तब पत्नी की सहायता भी उसके भाग्य को इतना सामर्थ्य नहीं दे सकेगी। लाल किताब में जिक्र आता है कि जिस व्यक्ति के बारहवें स्थान में शुक्र होता है, यदि वह मुसीबत के वक्त अपनी औरत के हाथों से शाम के समय एक नीले रंग का फूल बाहर कहीं सुनसान जगह में दबाए तो उसका दुःख दूर हो जाएगा। वह स्वास्थ्य का दुःख हो या धन का या जीवन में कोई और दुःख हो। लाल किताब के उसूलों के अनुसार बारहवाँ घर बृहस्पति और राहु दोनों का पक्का घर है। जब राहु की बारहवें घर पर छाया पड़ती है तो वह यहाँ बैठे हुए शुक्र के फल को खराब करता है। इसीलिए फूल शुक्र, राहु नीले रंग को बाहर जमीन में दबाने से ये अशुभ असर दूर होने में बहुत सहायता मिलती है। यदि उस व्यक्ति के घर में गाय हो तब भी शुक्र का असर शुभरहता है, क्योंकि गाय शुक्र की कारक है और जब शुक्र घर में ही स्थापित होगा तो वह साक्षात् मुसीबतें काटने वाली तलवार की तरह अपना असर देगी। बारहवें घर में शुक्र के साथ बृहस्पति का होना शुभ माना गया है। इसका कारण यह है कि काल-पुरुष कुंडली में बारहवें घर में मीन राशि पड़ती है जो बृहस्पति की अपनी राशि है और शुक्र इस राशि में उच्च का होता है। ऐसी स्थिति में ऐसे व्यक्ति को गृहस्थ सुख पूर्ण रूप से प्राप्त होते हैं और आध्यात्मिक विकास के लिए भी इसका फल शुभ मिलता है। कुछ हालातों में यदि किसी बुरे ग्रह की दृष्टि न हो तो उस व्यक्ति का विदेश से भी शुभ संबंध रहता है या उसे किसी-न-किसी रूप में विदेश से लाभ प्राप्त होता है। लेकिन यदि राहु या बुध की दृष्टि इन पर पड़ती हो तब ऐसे व्यक्ति के लिए सट्टा आदि के काम अशुभ फल देते हैं। इस घर में शुक्र के साथ सूर्य का होना धन के लिए तो बुरा असर नहीं देता, लेकिन पत्नी की सेहत के लिए अच्छा नहीं होता। बेशक पत्नी को कोई विशेष बीमारी न हो, किंतु फिर भी किसी-न-किसी रूप में उसके शरीर में कमजोरी दर्द आदि रहने की संभावना होती है। इस घर में शुक्र के साथ चंद्र का होना अच्छा नहीं है। क्योंकि, लाल किताब के अनुसार बारहवें घर का चंद्रमा 'खुशी पर काला पर्दा' है। इससे पत्नी के मन की अवस्था भी बहुत अच्छी नहीं रहती तथा जीवन में जो भोग के सुख से खुशी प्राप्त होती है, उसमें किसी-न-किसी रूप में कमी रहती है और कुछ हालातों में उस व्यक्ति की पत्नी का अपनी सास साथ कोई विशेष प्रेम नहीं रहता। दूसरे शब्दों में, सास और बहू के संबंध ज्यादा अच्छे नहीं रहते । इस घर में शुक्र के साथ मंगल हो तो कामवासना सामान्य से कुछ अधिक रहती है तथा जिसके फलस्वरूप कई बार बदनामी होने का डर भी बना रहता है। लाल किताब के अनुसार शुक्र के साथ मंगल दुनियावी चीजों की तरफ मोड़ देता है और उसमें पर-स्त्री या पर-पुरुष से संबंध रखने के विचार न चाहते हुए भी बार-बार आते हैं। यहाँ शुक्र के साथ बुध का होना अपनी उम्म्र और सेहत के लिए तो अच्छा फल देता है, किंतु जब उस व्यक्ति की लड़की का जन्म होता है तो इसका गृहस्थी पर अच्छा असर नहीं पड़ता; और किसी-न-किसी रूप में उस व्यक्ति की बुआ या बहन के लिए भी इसका फल स्वास्थ्य के लिए या आर्थिक हालत के लिए या गृहस्थी सुख के लिए अशुभ ही रहता है। यहाँ पर शुक्र के साथ शनि का होना अशुभ असर नहीं देता। इससे उस व्यक्ति की गृहस्थी का सुख बना रहता है और शुक्र के काम सजावट की चीजें खेती-बाड़ी आदि से ऐसे व्यक्ति को लाभ होता है। यहाँ पर शुक्र के साथ राहु का होना अच्छा फल नहीं देता। यहाँ पर राहु विशेषतौर से शुक्र के फल को खराब करता है। दूसरे शब्दों में राहु के काले धुएँ से शुक्र की खूबसूरती धुएँदार बन जाती है, जिसका पत्नी के स्वास्थ्य पर बुरा असर पड़ता है। इस घर में शुक्र के साथ केतु का होना कोई इतना बुरा असर नहीं देता, लेकिन कुछ हालातों में लड़के की पैदाइश में देरी होने की संभावना रहती है।

Venus placed in the twelfth house carries within itself a strange kind of potential. In youth, such a person may be morally loose in character, yet the same individual, as they advance toward old age, can become so saintly that the welfare of many people lies in their hands. However, in many of our ancient texts, Venus in the twelfth house has been viewed negatively. There are also some texts in which Venus has been highly praised. For example, in Chamatkar Chintamani, it is written that a person with Venus in this house is devoid of virtues, fame, quarrelsome, and even hostile toward friends. On the other hand, another great astrological text, Phaladeepika, states that such a placement makes a person wealthy, radiant, and endowed with pleasures related to women. In reality, neither of these descriptions does complete justice to Venus. To understand the influence of Venus in this position, many other factors must be taken into account. If Venus is not afflicted by any malefic aspect here, it brings a major revolution in the person’s interests. Such an individual does not care much about reputation until around the age of twenty-seven. They wish to fully indulge in life on a physical level, which may include alcohol or other intoxicants. In other words, they desire to know life completely and live it to the fullest. Such a person also engages in some form of creative expression. However, after the age of twenty-eight, there is a possibility that seriousness begins to develop in the individual. Gradually, as age advances, the mind starts inclining toward spirituality. From the age of fifty-nine onward, this spiritual inclination takes deeper root and continues to flourish with age. This is why benefic Venus in this house is also considered a significator of liberation (moksha). According to one opinion found in the Bhrigu Sutras, such a person attains a good state after death. Therefore, in my view, the texts that describe Venus here only in frightening and negative terms may be partially correct when considering the youthful phase of life. According to Lal Kitab, Venus exerts its strongest influence between the ages of twenty-five and twenty-seven. Up to around twenty-seven years of age, such negative descriptions may be somewhat valid. However, after that—especially in old age—Venus brings a positive transformation in the person, sometimes so profound that it becomes difficult to recognize whether this is the same individual who once carried a reputation stained with infamy. In old age, such a person can appear as a living embodiment of divinity. When Venus is placed in the twelfth house—especially if it is afflicted—it creates obstacles on the path toward spiritual attainment, and the belief that luxury and pleasure are the sole purposes of life becomes firmly rooted in the mind. The Bhrigu Sutras state that if Venus here is associated with a malefic planet, the person suffers a negative fate after death, but if associated with benefic planets, they attain a good destiny. This is equally true from the perspective of life itself. If a person consciously understands the nature of Venus, then life itself can become the finest means of liberation. Many ancient astrological texts repeatedly mention that Venus in this position spoils a person’s character and leads to love affairs that ruin life completely and cause lifelong disgrace. I believe this is only partially true. The real meaning is that such a person has a naturally colorful temperament. Whether this leads to lasting disgrace or serious harm depends on other conditions and is far from inevitable. In some circumstances, if Venus is weak, there is indeed a possibility of blemishes in character. If a weak Venus in this house is joined by the Moon, negative traits definitely enter the person’s character. Relationships with other women, or keeping a woman as a long-term mistress, become possible. This is especially likely for Libra ascendants, where Venus, being the ascendant lord, sits debilitated in the twelfth house. Even then, such outcomes are unlikely without the presence of the Moon. The reason is that the Moon signifies the mind, and according to Lal Kitab, the Moon in the twelfth house is highly malefic. It is called a “black curtain over happiness.” As a result, the mind goes out of control and disregards social boundaries, leading to the possibility that part of youth may be spoiled due to illicit relationships. It has been observed that if Jupiter is placed with Venus in this house, such relationships generally remain secret. In such cases, while there may be moral shortcomings, social disgrace is not necessarily inevitable. However, if malefic Mars or Saturn is associated with Venus here, disgrace can occur. In my personal opinion, for Taurus ascendants, Venus in the twelfth house does not give very inauspicious results. Often, this placement increases the individual’s capacity to earn wealth. Venus here intensifies the desire for luxury and comfort. If Mars is placed along with Venus, it gives the courage and drive to actively work toward creating those comforts and earning wealth. The text Saravali states that Venus here makes a person lazy, yet also happy. In my view, laziness for Taurus ascendants seems far from the truth. Lal Kitab speaks very highly of Venus in the twelfth house. According to one decree, Venus here acts like a living goddess who provides help everywhere in times of crisis, and like a cow that helps one cross the ocean of worldly existence. Since Venus signifies the wife, it means that the person’s wife plays a major role in their life. Whenever the person faces difficulty, the wife’s own fortune helps rescue them. If the person honors and respects their wife—this cow that helps cross the ocean of life—then the wife becomes a powerful holder of the person’s destiny. Even if such a person is born in poverty, their fortune begins to rise from the day of marriage. In such circumstances, marital harmony lasts at least thirty-seven years, meaning separation between husband and wife does not occur within that period. Lal Kitab further states that in every crisis, the wife bears the suffering first, and only afterward does the husband face difficulty. As a result, the woman’s health often remains weak, as she absorbs much of her husband’s adversity while dedicating a large part of her life to family responsibilities. The person’s fortune improves further if charity is done in the name of the wife or through her hands. This brings especially good results for the wife. However, there is also a condition: if the person is atheistic or does not remember God, even the wife’s support may not be sufficient to strengthen destiny. Lal Kitab mentions that if a person with Venus in the twelfth house, during times of trouble, buries a blue-colored flower in a deserted place in the evening through the hands of his wife, the suffering—whether related to health, wealth, or life in general—can be alleviated. According to Lal Kitab principles, the twelfth house is firmly associated with both Jupiter and Rahu. When Rahu casts its shadow on the twelfth house, it spoils the results of Venus. Therefore, burying a Venus-related flower to counteract Rahu’s blue influence helps reduce the malefic effect. If the person keeps a cow at home, Venus remains auspicious, because the cow is a significator of Venus. When Venus is established within the home, it acts like a sword that cuts through misfortune. Venus placed with Jupiter in the twelfth house is considered auspicious. In the natural zodiac, Pisces falls in the twelfth house, which is Jupiter’s own sign, and Venus is exalted there. In such a case, the person enjoys full domestic happiness and also receives favorable results for spiritual development. In some situations, if no malefic planet aspects this combination, the person gains beneficial connections with foreign lands. However, if Rahu or Mercury aspects this placement, speculative activities like gambling yield unfavorable results. Venus with the Sun in this house does not negatively affect wealth, but it is not good for the wife’s health. Even if there is no major illness, weakness or bodily pain may persist. Venus with the Moon here is not good, because the Moon in the twelfth house is considered a “black curtain over happiness.” As a result, the wife’s mental state may not be stable, pleasure derived from indulgence remains incomplete, and relations between the wife and her mother-in-law are often strained. Venus with Mars here increases sensual desire beyond normal levels and can lead to disgrace. According to Lal Kitab, Venus combined with Mars pulls a person toward worldly pleasures and repeatedly brings thoughts of illicit relationships, even against one’s will. Venus with Mercury gives good results for age and health, but when a daughter is born, it negatively affects household harmony, and brings unfavorable results related to the health, finances, or domestic happiness of the person’s aunt or sister. Venus with Saturn here is not inauspicious. It supports marital stability, and brings benefits through decorative items, agriculture, and similar Venusian activities. Venus with Rahu here gives unfavorable results, as Rahu especially spoils Venus’s effects—like black smoke dimming beauty—adversely affecting the wife’s health. Venus with Ketu here is not very harmful, but in some cases may cause delay in the birth of a son.
