शुक्र ग्रह का जब भी जिक्र आता है तो हमारी कल्पना में एक बहुत सुंदर कोमल स्वभाव की हमदर्दी से भरी हुई और मीठा बोलने वाली युवती की तसवीर उभरती है। शुक्र की क्रूरता के बारे में हमारे पुराने ग्रंथों में बहुत कम जिक्र आता है। लेकिन आठवें घर में आकर शुक्र की यह सुंदरता बहुत हद तक कुरूपता में बदल जाती है। इस संदर्भ में, यदि हम अग्नि-पुराण में शुक्र के वर्णन को देखें तभी हम आठवें घर में बैठे शुक्र के प्रभाव को अच्छी तरह समझ पाएँगे। अग्नि-पुराण में शुक्र को एक ऐसी स्त्री बताया गया है जिसके हाथों में तलवारों जैसे सींग, तीर-कमान और सोने की कुल्हाड़ी है। अब शुक्र का यह रूप हमें कुंडली के और घरों में तो नहीं मिलता, किंतु अष्टम में पड़े हुए शुक्र का शायद यही सही रूप है, जिसके बारे में वह कोमलता नहीं है बल्कि एक प्रकार की क्रूरता है। यदि हम अग्नि-पुराण के इस वर्णन को ध्यान से देखें, तब हम आठवें शुक्र के बारे में लाल किताब में आए वर्णन को ठीक ढंग से समझ सकेंगे।  सर्वश्रेष्ठ अंकशास्त्री के अनुसIर, आठवें घर के शुक्र को 'जली मिट्टी की चंडाल औरत' कहा गया है। राक्षसों के गुरु भृगु-पुत्र शुक्र के लिए यह एक प्रकार की गाली लगती है, किंतु यहाँ शुक्र को और कहा भी क्या जा सकता है? लाल किताब में ही जिक्र आता है कि जिसके आठवें घर में शुक्र हो, उसे स्त्री से पूर्ण सुख नहीं मिलता। वृष लग्न वालों के लिए आठवें घर में धनु राशि आती है, जिसका स्वामी बृहस्पति है किंतु फिर भी शुक्र का शुभ फल यानी यहाँ मौत के घर आकर अशुभता का रूप धारण कर लेता है। लाल किताब में कहा गया है कि आठवें घर में शुक्र वाले व्यक्ति की औरत सख्त स्वभाव की होगी। मान लीजिए कि आदमी ने अपनी पत्नी से कहा कि आज दाल-सब्जी में पानी कुछ ज्यादा लगता है, और औरत ने उसके हाथ पर चिमटा दे मारा। मर्द ने फौरन कहा, "दाल पतली जरूर है मगर खाने में स्वादिष्ट है।" बस इसी धारणा के साथ ऐसे व्यक्ति को अपनी गृहस्थी की गाड़ी को चलाना पड़ता है। आगे यह वर्णन भी आता है कि ऐसे व्यक्ति की औरत जो भी कोई बुरा शब्द या बद-आशीष देगी वह फौरन सच हो जाएगा, लेकिन उसके कहे शुभ वचनों का पूरा होना जरूरी नहीं होगा। अब आप समझ पाएँगे कि ऐसी हालत में व्यक्ति अपनी औरत से दबकर न रहे तो वह वास्तव में बरबाद ही होगा। क्योंकि, यदि उसकी औरत थोड़ा भी तंग होती है और परिवार के लिए या अपने पति के लिए कुछ बुरा शब्द बोलती है, तो उसके पूरा होने की संभावना रहती है। इस घर में शुक्र होने से यदि उस व्यक्ति की शादी सत्ताईस साल पूरा होने की आयु से पहले होती है तो इस शुक्र का फल और भी अशुभ हो जाता है। इस घर में शुक्र होने के बारे में हमारे प्राचीन ज्योतिषियों का भी एक मत नहीं है। लेकिन एक मुसलमान ज्योतिषी और लखनऊ के नवाब जिन्होंने 'खेट कौतुक' नाम की पुस्तक अठारहवीं शताब्दी में लिखी थी, उनका मत है कि यहाँ शुक्र हो तो उस व्यक्ति को स्त्री सुख नहीं मिलता। वास्तव में, मेरे देखने में आया है कि यहाँ सुख न मिलने का जो रूप है वह यह है कि पति और पत्नी अपने विचारों को एक-दूसरे के बहुत नजदीक नहीं ला पाते। जो पति और पत्नी का एक आदर्श भावनात्मक संबंध है, वह उनमें पूर्ण रूप से नहीं आ पाता। कुछ पुराने ज्योतिषियों का मत है कि यहाँ शुक्र होने से आदमी धनवान होता है। यानी ऐसे व्यक्ति के पास पैसे की कमी नहीं रहती। यह बात पूरी तरह सच नहीं है। वास्तव में, इस घर में शुक्र होने से पैसे के बारे में शुभ फल ही हो यह जरूरी नहीं है। आठवाँ घर मृत्यु स्थान है, इसलिए देखा गया है कि कुछ लोगों को किसी शुक्र शुभ फल ही देता है। कुछ हालातों में यह भी देखा गया है कि जब शुक्र आठवें घर में हो तो किसी-न-किसी तरह नाजायज ढंग से कमाए हुए धन में यह अशुभ असर नहीं देता। लेकिन, यहाँ पर शुक्र पैसे के बारे में या आर्थिक स्थिति को बहुत अच्छा नहीं रखता। क्योंकि, काल-पुरुष कुंडली में, दूसरा घर यानी धन स्थान में वृष राशि आती है। जिसके मालिक का मौत के घर में आ जाना, धन स्थान के लिए किसी-न-किसी रूप में अड़चनें ही पैदा करता है। गर्ग संहिता में कहा गया है कि इस स्थान में शुक्र होने के कारण वह व्यक्ति अपने जीवन का कुछ हिस्सा पिता का ऋण चुकाने में ही गुजार देता है। कई दफा फिर भी उसको इतना यश नहीं मिलता, तब भी वह अपने मन से अपने कुल की उन्नति चाहता है। आठवाँ घर कुंडली का मृत्यु स्थान है, इसलिए इस घर में शुक्र होने की स्थिति में आदमी की आयु के बारे में बात करना बहुत आवश्यक है। कुछ आर्य ग्रंथों में जिक्र आता है कि यहाँ शुक्र होने से चौथे बरस में उस व्यक्ति की मृत्यु होने की संभावना रहती है। यह वर्णन ठीक प्रतीत नहीं होता क्योंकि इस घर में शक्र जैसा शुभ मह मौत का कारक नहीं देखा गया। शायद इस संदर्भ में पराने ज्योतिष ग्रंथ 'फलटोपिका' का विचार ज्यादा सही लगता है। यहाँ मंत्रेश्वर कहते हैं कि वह व्यक्ति दीर्घ आयु वाला होता है तथा वह भूमि का स्वामी होता है या उसे भूमि का लाभ होता है। यहाँ पर लाल किताब का यह विचार ध्यान में रखना चाहिए कि शुक्र खेती की जमीन का कारक है तो उस व्यक्ति को कभी-कभी अपने बुजुर्गों से या किसी और साधन से खेती की जमीन मिलने की संभावना होती है। इस घर में शुक्र के साथ बृहस्पति का होना धन-दौलत के लिए कोई बहुत अच्छा फल नहीं देता। कई बार पिता को भी अपने जीवन में पैसा कमाने के लिए जद्दोजहद करनी पड़ती है। यदि इस घर में शुक्र के साथ सूर्य हो तो ये पत्नी की सेहत के लिए अच्छा फल नहीं देता। कुछ हालातों में व्यक्ति का अपना जिस्म भी मजबूत नहीं होता। कोई बीमारी न भी हो, लेकिन जिस्म में किसी-न-किसी रूप में कुछ कमजोरी अवश्य रहती है। यहाँ पर शुक्र के साथ चन्द्र का होना उस व्यक्ति की पत्नी के लिए अच्छा फल नहीं देता और गृहस्थ सुख में किसी-न-किसी प्रकार से कमी आती है। लाल किताब में जिक्र आता है कि आठवें घर में चंद्र और शुक्र होने की हालत में वह व्यक्ति अपनी सेहत व धन के लिए यदि बूढ़ी औरतों या गऊ की सेवा या दान करे, तो यह उसके लिए बहुत अच्छा फल देगा। यहाँ पर शुक्र के साथ मंगल का होना उस व्यक्ति की हिम्मत को तो बढ़ाता है, लेकिन धन-दौलत के लिए कोई बहुत अच्छा फल नहीं देता। उस व्यक्ति में दूसरों की निंदा करने की भावना भी जाग्रत होती है। इसके अलावा ऐसा व्यक्ति दूसरों के लिए बुरा ही सिद्ध होता है। लाल किताब में कहा गया है कि ऐसा व्यक्ति जिस दरख्त के नीचे बैठे वह दरख्त ही सूख जाएगा या बरबाद हो जाएगा। इस घर में शुक्र के साथ बुध का होना आमतौर पर अशुभ फल का ही कारक है। लाल किताब में इन दोनों ग्रहों के फल के बारे में कहा गया है कि ये ग्रह ऐसा फल देंगे जैसे-"रब्ब ने बनाई ऐसी जोड़ी, एक अंधा दूसरा कोढ़ी।" - यानी दोनों ग्रहों का फल अशुभ होगा। इसका असर पत्नी पर भी पड़ सकता है या उस व्यक्ति की बुआ, बहन या बेटी तीनों में से किसी एक पर पड़ सकता है। उससे गृहस्थ-सुख इतना अच्छा नहीं और कुछ हालातों में यदि मंगल जैसे ग्रह की दृष्टि हो तो औलाद का विघ्न हो सकता है या औलाद के बारे में किसी-न-किसी प्रकार की चिंता रहती है। इस घर में शुक्र के साथ शनि होना अशुभ नहीं है। इससे आयु लंबी होने की संभावना और भी बढ़ जाती है, लेकिन पेट की तकलीफ होने का डर जरूर हो सकता है। यहाँ पर शुक्र और राहु का एक साथ होना बहुत अशुभ माना गया है। लाल किताब में कहा गया है, कि यदि यह दोनों ग्रह अष्टम स्थान में हों तो यह मिट्टी भरी काली आँधी की तरह उस व्यक्ति को अपना प्रभाव देती है। वास्तव में शुक्र और राहु का इकट्ठा होना कुंडली के किसी भी भाव में अशुभ ही माना गया है। यहाँ पर शुक्र के साथ केतु का होना भी औलाद के बारे में कोई बहुत अच्छा फल नहीं देता। औलाद में देरी या उसका जीवन में बहुत उन्नति न करना जैसे फल देखने में आते हैं। इस घर में शुक्र के अशुभ फल से छुटकारा पाने के लिए इकतालीस दिन या आठ दिन लगातार गंदे नाले में एक फूल फेंकना, शुक्र के अशुभ फल को काफी हद तक कम कर देता है। यहाँ आठवें घर का शुक्र, दूसरे स्थान को अपनी सातवीं दृष्टि देखता है, यह उसका मंदिर जाने का रास्ता है। शुक्र के इस प्रभाव को धन स्थान में ले जाने के लिए यदि वह व्यक्ति धन स्थान में अपना सिर झुकाता रहे, अपने मस्तक को भूमि से लगाकर सिर झुकाता रहे तो उसके शत्रुओं की अपने आप ही बरबादी हो हसे जाती है।
