हमारे प्राचीन ग्रंथों में तीसरे घर के शुक्र के फल अशुभ ही कहे गए हैं। शायद इसका कारण यह हो कि सभी प्राचीन ग्रंथों में तीसरे घर का कारक मंगल को माना है और शुक्र इस घर में जहाँ मगल का अधिकार है. वहाँ शुभ देने में इतना सक्षम नहीं होता। जब हम वृष लग्न में तीसरे घर में शुक्र के होने की बात करते हैं तो हमें यह बात भी ध्यान में रखनी जरूरी है कि वृष लग्न वालों के लिए तीसरे घर में कर्क राशि आती है जिसका स्वामी चंद्रमा है। शुक्र ग्रह चंद्रमा से शत्रुता करता है। सर्वश्रेष्ठ अंकशास्त्री के अनुसIर ऐसा शुक्र जब उस घर में रहता है तो शत्रु के घर में वह अपनी शुभता खो देता है। महाऋषि पराशर का विचार है कि जिस व्यक्ति के तीसरे घर में शुक्र हो तो उसके शत्रु बढ़ते हैं और उसका धन कम होने लगता है। इसी बात को एक अन्य पुराने ज्योतिषी श्री वशिष्ठ ने भी कहा है कि ऐसा व्यक्ति सादे भेष में रहता है अथवा उसका पहनावा साधारण होता है। कहने का अर्थ है कि जो शुभता शुक्र के अन्य घरों में देखने को मिलती है, वह इस घर में नहीं दिखाई पड़ती। बहुत-सी पुस्तकों में यह जिक्र भी आता है कि इस स्थान पर शुक्र होने से प्रवास सुखपूर्ण होते हैं और प्रवास करते समय नए परिचय होते हैं या नए लोगों से मैत्री संबंध बनते हैं। साथ-ही-साथ पत्र-व्यवहार द्वारा भी मित्रों की संख्या में वृद्धि होती है, जिनके द्वारा जीवन में कभी-न-कभी कोई योगदान अवश्य मिलता है। वास्तव में, वृष लग्न के संबंध में इस तरह का फल ठीक प्रतीत नहीं होता। क्योंकि तीसरे घर में शुक्र कर्क राशि में है। हाँ, यदि यही शुक्र मेष लग्न वालों के लिए तीसरे घर में हो तो ऊपर बताए फल मिल सकते हैं, किंतु वृष लग्न वालों के लिए नहीं। इस स्थान में शुक्र होने से धन के मामले में स्थिरता नहीं रहती । व्यवसाय में हानि-लाभ होते रहने से आर्थिक हालत नाजुक बनी रहती है। यह विचार महाऋषि होने से वह व्यक्ति गया है। इस ग्रंथ के लेखक कल्याण वर्मा का विचार है कि ऐसे व्यक्ति में उत्पादकम होता है। यहाँ पर हमें 'उत्साह' शब्द को बहत बारीकी के समझने की जरूरत है। उत्साह से मतलब अंदर की दिलेरी या हौसले से भी है। दूसरे शब्दों में, उत्साह का अर्थ यह पी है कि हम जिस काम को भी हाथ में लें, उसको कितनी खुशी या हिम्मत से करते हैं अथवा किसी कार्य के आरंभ में उस कार्य को लेकर हमारे मन में किस तरह की भावना होती है यानी हम सफल होंगे या नहीं होंगे। जिस व्यक्ति में उत्साह की कमी हो, कहीं-न-कहीं उसके मन में यह संभावना बनी रहती है, कि शायद मैं इस काम में कामयाब न हो पाऊँ। यहाँ पर कल्याण वर्मा का मत बहुत ठीक प्रतीत होता है। इसका कारण यह है कि शुक्र स्वयं में एक स्त्री ग्रह है और वह चंद्रमा की राशि में बैठा हुआ और कोमल बन जाता है और चंद्रमा के मस्त स्वभाव में डूबकर मस्ती भरे ढंग से जीने की कोशिश करता है, उसमें मंगल जैसी हिम्मत या सूर्य जैसी रोशनी या आत्मबल नहीं होता। जिसके द्वारा वह जीवन में उत्साह से आगे बढ़ सके। इसी संदर्भ में हमें यह ठीक ही प्रतीत होता है, जब लखनऊ के नवाब अपने ज्योतिष ग्रंथ 'खेट कौतुक' में कहते हैं, कि ऐसा व्यक्ति आलसी होता है। इस स्थान में शुक्र होने के बारे में 'यवन जातक' ने भी दर्शाया है, उन्होंने 'आलस' के स्थान पर 'सुस्त' होना वर्णन किया है। वास्तव में सुस्ती भी उत्साहरहित होने का ही एक दूसरा रूप है। 'यवन मत' के अनुसार तो यहाँ तक कहा गया है कि उस व्यक्ति को नींद बहुत आती है। लाल किताब में कहा गया है, कि तीसरे घर में शुक्र होने से उस व्यक्ति की स्त्री एक मर्द की तरह उसकी सहायता करती है। शायद इसका कारण यह है कि तीसरे घर पर मंगल का भी अधिकार है, क्योंकि वह इस घर का कारक है। इसलिए उस व्यक्ति की पत्नी में मंगल जैसी हिम्मत आ जाती है और वह पति को एक दिलेर साथी की तरह अपना सहयोग देती है। यदि ऐसा व्यक्ति शादी के बाद दूसरी स्त्रियों से किसी प्रकार के शारीरिक संबंध न रखे तो उसकी स्त्री हमेशा उससे डरती रहेगी। लेकिन होता यह है कि इस घर में शुक्र होने पर कोई-न-कोई स्त्री उस व्यक्ति से संपर्क पैदा करने की कोशिश जरूर करती है, और पराई स्त्रियों से संबंध रखने के कारण व्यक्ति के धन की हानि हो सकती है। ऐसे व्यक्ति को अपने भाग्य में वृद्धि करने के लिए यह
