पाँचवाँ घर सूर्य की राशि, सिंह राशि में पड़ता है। सूर्य अपने आपमें अग्नि तत्व की प्रधानता वाला ग्रह है और मंगल स्वयं एक आग है। अतः परिणामस्वरूप पाँचवें घर का मंगल, व्यक्ति में क्रोध की मात्रा को बढ़ानेवाला होता है। ऐसे व्यक्ति में एक तरह का अहंकार पैदा होता है। यदि इस घर के मंगल पर केतु, बुध आदि की दृष्टि पड़ती हो तो यह अहंकार कुछ हालातों में दूसरों के प्रति बहुत ही नफरत की भावना भी पैदा कर वालों में ऐसे बहुत व्यक्ति हैं, जो शेयर का काम करते हैं और लगातार इस दलदल में इतने धंस गए हैं कि अब उनका वहाँ से बाहर आना असंभव-सा है। बहुत बड़ा नुकसान होने के बाद भी और घर से बेघर होने के बावजूद भी उनके मन में सिर्फ एक ही भावना रहती है कि बस एक दफा जीत जाएँ फिर हम इस काम को छोड़ देंगे। लेकिन मंगल अपनी जिद्द को इतनी आसानी से छोड़ने वाला यह नहीं। पाँचवें घर में मंगल होने से हमें उस व्यक्ति के पूर्वजन्म के बारे में भी विचार करना चाहिए। पाँचवाँ घर हमारे पूर्व जन्म का है। इस घर में बैठे मंगल वाला व्यक्ति अपने पिछले जन्म में, अपने पिता के साथ किसी-न-किसी रूप से विचारों का मतभेद रखता है। जिसके कारण उसके जीवन में पिता के कारण से या बच्चों के कारण से एक आत्मद्वंद्व या मानसिक संताप बना रहता है। इस जन्म में भी यही स्थिति दोबारा उत्पन्न होती है। पिता के साथ संबंधों में कहीं-न-कहीं गहरा मतभेद होने के फल को औलाद के संबंध में लगभग बुरा ही कहा है। पुराने ज्योतिषी श्री काशीनाथ के अनुसार पाँचवें भाव का मंगल उस व्यक्ति के लड़के को दुराचारी बनाता है। इसी तरह 'फलदीपिका' के रचयिता मंत्रेश्वर का मत है कि इस भाव में मंगल होने से पुत्र सुख नहीं मिलता। इस विचार को समझने के लिए हमें पूर्व जन्म के संस्कार को ध्यान में रखना बहुत जरूरी है। बहुत लोगों ने, यहाँ मंगल के होने से संतान की मृत्यु होती है, ऐसा कहा है। लेकिन किसी भी हालत में यहाँ के मंगल का औलाद पर इतना बुरा असर नहीं होता। एक अन्य ज्योतिषी गोपाल रत्नाकर का मत है कि-पाँचवें घर में मंगल होने से बूच्चे मरे हुए पैदा होते हैं। ऐसी हालत में जब मंगल पर ग्यारहवें घर से केतु या बुध की दृष्टि पड़ती हो अथवा नौवें घर में बुध या केतु हो, तब औलाद के बारे में इस तरह का अशुभ फल मिलता है। औलाद से मेरा मतलब 'लड़का' औलाद से है। 'लड़की' औलाद पर इसका कोई विशेष प्रभाव नहीं पड़ता। इस संबंध में केवल महऋषि पाराशर को छोड़कर पंचमस्थ मंगल के विचार अशुभ ही कहे गए हैं। लेकिन महऋषि पाराशर का मानना है कि पंचम भाव में मंगल यदि शुभ हालत में हो तो वह व्यक्ति संतति यानी औलाद तथा कीर्ति दोनों प्राप्त करता है। पूर्व जन्म के संस्कारों को देखते हुए, यदि वह व्यक्ति इस जन्म में अपने पिता और अपनी औलाद के साथ बहुत प्रेमपूर्वक व्यवहार करें, तो पूर्व जन्म का यह दोष प्रभाव कम हो सकता है। यदि ऐसा न किया जाए तो संभव है कि उस व्यक्ति के आने वाले जन्म में भी वो इसी संताप को पुनः भोगेगा ।लाल किताब का मत है कि मंगल पाँचवें घर वाले व्यक्ति के परिवार में कोई-न-कोई पूर्वज ऐसा जरूर होता है जिसे दवाइयों का शौक हो या उसका हकीमों आदि से संबंध हो। वास्तव में इसका मतलब हकीमी या डॉक्टरी से ही नहीं है बल्कि, उस व्यक्ति का कोई पूर्वज हकीमी, झाड़-फूंक, मंत्र-विद्या, जड़ी-बूटियों आदि में रुचि रखने वाला अवश्य होता है। शायद यही कारण है कि यहाँ मंगल होने से व्यक्ति यदि डॉक्टर हो तो उसे काफी यश मिलता है। अपने मरीजों के प्रति उसके हृदय में करुणा की भावना पैदा होती है। डॉक्टरों में भी सर्जनों के लिए, ऐसे मंगल का फल और भी शुभ हो जाता है। इसी तरह से वकीलों की कुंडली में भी ऐसा मंगल यदि शुभ हो तो एक प्रकार से वरदान सिद्ध होता है। लाल किताब में मंगल बद या अशुभ होने की हालत में ही औलाद पर बुरा प्रभाव पड़ने का जिक्र आता है। मंगल अशुभ के बारे में मैं पहले भी बता चुका हूँ कि-मंगल अशुभ तब होगा जब उस कुंडली में सूर्य-शनि एक साथ हों, अथवा ग्यारहवें या नौवें घर से बुध या केतु की दृष्टि पड़ती हो। हाँ, इतना जरूर है कि पाँचवें घर में मंगल के साथ यदि केतु हो तो गर्भपात होने की संभावना बहुत बढ़ जाती है। क्योंकि, ऐसी हालत में ग्यारहवें घर से राहु की दृष्टि भी मंगल पर पड़ती है। लेकिन यदि मंगल पर इस तरह का अशुभ प्रभाव न पड़ता हो तो लाल किताब का विचार है कि-ऐसा व्यक्ति एक धनी संतान का पिता होता है या उसकी औलाद नाम प्राप्त करती है जिससे पिता अपने पुत्र के कारण प्रसन्न होता है। मंगल पाँचवें के बारे में, एक उपयुक्त बात है कि यदि कभी आपको मंगल पाँचवें वाले व्यक्ति के साथ भोजन करने का मौका मिले तो उसकी भूख देखकर ईर्ष्या मत करना, यह ईश्वर की देन है। प्राचीन ज्योतिषी जागेश्वर के अनुसार मंगल पाँचवें वाले को भूख बहुत लगती है। इसी तरह से श्री जीवनाथ का विचार भी ऐसा ही है। लेकिन उनका मानना है कि मंगल पाँचवें वाले को बहुत प्रचंड भूख लगती है। यह विचार ठीक है क्योंकि, यहाँ अग्निकारक मंगल अग्निकारक ग्रह सूर्य की राशि में है। इसलिए ऐसे व्यक्ति की पाचन-शक्ति का बहुत अच्छा होना यह एक स्वाभाविक बात है। लाल किताब के अनुसार पाँचवें घर में मंगल यदि बहुत अच्छा न हो, तो उस हालत में औलाद पर बुरा असर पड़ता है। ये बुरा असर और भी अशुभ हो जाता है यदि वह व्यक्ति अपने पैतृक परिवार से अलग होकर कहीं दूर जाकर रहे और अपने पैतृक परिवार के लोगों से बिल्कुल मिलना-जुलना छोड़ दे। पाँचवें घर में मंगल के साथ बृहस्पति हो तो वह व्यक्ति औलाद की पैदाइश के दिन से आर्थिक तौर पर अच्छा होना शुरू हो जाता है, किंतु यहाँ एक शर्त जरूर है कि-यदि वह व्यक्ति किसी से दान ले तो उस हालत में वह पूरी तरह बरबाद हो जाएगा। दान लेने से उसके सोने को भी कोढ़ लग जाएगा। कुछ हालतों में उसके जिस्म के खून को भी ये दान लेना, कम करना शुभ कर सकता है जिससे किसी-न-किसी रूप में शारीरिक तौर पर खून से संबंधित कोई बीमारी होने का भी डर हो सकता है। पाँचवें घर में मंगल के साथ यदि शनि हो तब भी उस व्यक्ति के लड़का पैदा होने के दिन से उसकी किस्मत जागेगी। लेकिन यहाँ एक शर्त जरूर है, कि मंगल और शनि पाँचवें घर में हों और उसी कुंडली में केतु लग्न में हो तो उस व्यक्ति को दूसरी नर औलाद बयालीस साल की आयु के बाद ही नसीब होगी। बहत-से पुराने ज्योतिषियों ने पाँचवें मंगल को गरीबी का प्रतीक भी कहा है। गोपाल रत्नाकर के अनुसार यहाँ मंगल होने से आदमी अभागा होता है और यवन मत के अनुसार यदि इस घर में मंगल हो तो आदमी की इज्जत नहीं रहती। लेकिन मेरे अनुसार ये विचार ठीक नहीं है। सूर्य की राशि जो हमारे सम्मान का राजदरबार का और प्रतिष्ठा का कारक है. उसमें बैठा हुआ मंगल प्रतिष्ठा को कोई खतरा नहीं देता। बल्कि वह आदमी किसी-न-किसी रूप में, छोटे स्तर पर हो चाहे बड़े स्तर पर, प्रसिद्धि अवश्य प्राप्त करता है। इस भाव में मंगल के साथ सूर्य का होना, व्यक्ति की औलाद की शिक्षा तथा आर्थिक हालत पर शुभ प्रभाव देता है; क्योंकि मेष लग्न में सूर्य अपनी ही राशि में है और यह बृहस्पति का पक्का घर होने से, सूर्य-मंगल, दोनों के फल को और भी शुभ कर देता है। इस स्थान पर मंगल के साथ चंद्रमा का होना माता तथा भाइयों के लिए अच्छा फल देता है। व्यक्ति की. अपनी आर्थिक स्थिति पर भी इसका शुभ प्रभाव पड़ता है, क्योंकि इन दोनों ग्रहों की सातवीं दृष्टि आय स्थान पर पड़ती है।
