🌷 The Glory of the Janmashtami Fast 🌷
➡️ Shri Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, 2026.
➡️ 1] Lord Shri Krishna tells Yudhishthira Ji:
“The merit of observing a single Shri Krishna Janmashtami fast is equivalent to observing 20 crore Ekadashi fasts.”
➡️ 2] Dharmaraj tells Savitri:
“A person living in Bharatvarsha who observes the Shri Krishna Janmashtami fast becomes free from the sins accumulated over 100 births.”🙏🏻
🌷 Four Nights That Bestow Special Spiritual Merit 🌷
1) Diwali Night
2) Maha Shivratri Night
3) Holi Night
4) Shri Krishna Janmashtami Night
Chanting, meditation, austerities, and staying awake in spiritual practice during these special nights are considered highly meritorious.
The Janmashtami fast is regarded as “Vratraj” — the king of fasts, and is considered highly sacred.
🙏 (Shiv Purana, Kotirudra Samhita, Chapter 37)
🌷 The Glory of the Janmashtami Fast and Fasting 🌷
🙏🏻 One should observe the Janmashtami fast, as it is considered highly beneficial. It is believed to help remove the sins and suffering accumulated over seven births.
🙏🏻 Janmashtami is simultaneously a celebration, a great festival, a sacred fast, and an auspicious spiritual day.
🙏🏻 The Vayu Purana and several other scriptures describe the spiritual significance of Janmashtami.
It is stated that a person who eats regular food on the night of Janmashtami before the celebration is considered to be neglecting the sanctity of the occasion. On the other hand, one who observes the fast, engages in chanting and meditation, celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, and then takes food is traditionally believed to uplift 21 generations of their family and progress spiritually toward realizing the Divine, whether in its personal or formless aspect.
However, this does not mean that people with diabetes, health concerns, or physical weakness should undertake a complete fast simply after hearing about the glory of Janmashtami fasting.
💥 Children, very weak individuals, and elderly people should take fruits or other suitable light nourishment according to their health and physical capacity.
🙏🏻 Chanting mantras on Janmashtami is traditionally believed to produce immense spiritual merit.
🙏🏻 Staying awake throughout the night of Janmashtami in chanting and meditation is considered especially significant.
Those who are able to chant the mantra “Kleem Krishnaya Namah” and their Guru Mantra, even for a short time, are traditionally believed to receive relief from the threefold sufferings (Trividha Taapa).
🙏🏻 According to the Bhavishya Purana, observing the Janmashtami fast is traditionally believed to promote happiness and peace in the world, protect living beings from disease, help avert untimely death, provide protection from the suffering associated with miscarriage, and remove misfortune and discord.
🙏🏻 May Lord Shri Krishna bless you and your family with happiness, peace, prosperity, good health, and spiritual well-being.
जय श्री कृष्ण! 🙏🏻
