ब्रज के उस मधुर और हरे-भरे वन में उस दिन का दृश्य अत्यंत मनोहर था। वसंत की कोमल छाया चारों ओर फैली हुई थी। वृक्षों की डालियाँ पुष्पों से लदी हुई थीं, लताएँ मंद पवन के साथ धीरे-धीरे झूम रही थीं, और वातावरण में फूलों की मधुर सुगंध घुली हुई थी। ऐसा लगता था मानो पूरा वन किसी दिव्य लीला के स्वागत में सजा हो।
वन के मध्य एक विशाल और छायादार वृक्ष खड़ा था। उसकी ऊँची डालियों पर रंग-बिरंगे फूल ऐसे खिले थे जैसे आकाश के तारों ने धरती पर आकर स्थान ले लिया हो। उसी वृक्ष की एक मजबूत और सुकोमल शाखा पर बैठे थे बाल स्वरूप में मनोहर श्रीकृष्ण।
उनके श्यामल अंगों पर पीताम्बर की सुनहरी छटा लहरा रही थी। सिर पर सजा मोरपंख मंद पवन में हल्का-हल्का हिल रहा था। उनके अधरों पर एक मधुर और चंचल मुस्कान थी, और उनकी आँखों में बाल-सुलभ शरारत झिलमिला रही थी।
कभी वे किसी शाखा की ओर झुकते, कभी किसी सुगंधित फूल को ध्यान से देखते, फिर मुस्कुराते हुए उसे तोड़ लेते। कभी उस फूल को अपनी नासिका के पास लाकर उसकी सुगंध का आनंद लेते और फिर प्रेम से उसे नीचे खड़े अपने सखाओं की ओर फेंक देते।
नीचे उनके प्रिय सखा खड़े थे। सबके चेहरे पर आनंद और उत्साह की झलक थी। जैसे ही कोई फूल नीचे गिरता, वे हँसते हुए उसे पकड़ लेते। कोई सखा ऊपर देखकर पुकारता
“अरे कन्हैया! वह लाल फूल भी तोड़ो!”
दूसरा कहता
“हमें भी देना, सब अपने पास मत रख लेना!”
यह सुनकर कृष्ण हँस पड़ते और एक साथ कई फूल नीचे गिरा देते। तब सभी सखा दौड़कर उन्हें उठाने लगते और खिलखिलाकर हँसने लगते।
पास ही एक सुंदर मोर खड़ा था। वह अपनी गर्दन उठाकर इस आनंदमयी लीला को देख रहा था, मानो उसे भी यह खेल बहुत प्रिय लग रहा हो। थोड़ी दूरी पर एक उजला बछड़ा शांत भाव से खड़ा था, जैसे वह भी अपने प्रिय गोपाल को निहारते हुए आनंदित हो रहा हो। रंग-बिरंगी तितलियाँ फूलों के चारों ओर नृत्य करती हुई उड़ रही थीं।
उसी समय वन की एक ओर से दो-तीन ब्रज सखियाँ धीरे-धीरे वहाँ आ पहुँचीं। वे वृक्ष की ओट में खड़ी होकर यह दृश्य देखने लगीं।
एक सखी मुस्कुराकर बोली
“देखो तो! हमारे कन्हैया आज तो वृक्ष के ऊपर बैठकर पुष्पों का खजाना बाँट रहे हैं।”
दूसरी सखी हँसते हुए बोली
“हाँ, और उनके सखा ऐसे ले रहे हैं जैसे उन्हें कोई अमूल्य रत्न मिल गया हो।”
तीसरी सखी ने प्रेम से कहा
“सच! कन्हैया जहाँ होते हैं, वहाँ साधारण खेल भी लीला बन जाता है।”
सखियाँ यह सब देखकर प्रेम और आनंद से भर उठीं। उनके हृदय में उस बाल-लीला को देखकर अपार स्नेह उमड़ आया।
मंद पवन जब वृक्ष की डालियों को हिलाती, तो कुछ पुष्प अपने आप ही झर जाते और नीचे गिरते हुए ऐसा लगता जैसे पुष्प-वर्षा हो रही हो। उस समय पूरा वन मानो आनंद से झूम रहा था।
बाल-स्वरूप श्रीकृष्ण अपने सखाओं को फूल बाँटते हुए इतने प्रसन्न थे कि ऐसा प्रतीत होता था जैसे वे केवल फूल ही नहीं, बल्कि अपने हृदय का प्रेम भी बाँट रहे हों।
उस क्षण ब्रज का वह छोटा-सा वन प्रेम, हँसी और मधुरता से भर गया था जहाँ वृक्ष, पक्षी, पवन और सखाओं का हृदय सभी एक ही आनंद में डूबे हुए थे....

In that sweet and lush green forest of Braj, the scene of that day was बेहद enchanting. The gentle touch of spring had spread all around. The branches of the trees were laden with blossoms, the creepers swayed softly with the mild breeze, and the air was filled with the delicate fragrance of flowers. It felt as if the entire forest was beautifully adorned to स्वागत a divine play.
In the midst of the forest stood a large, shady tree. Its tall branches were covered with colorful flowers that looked as if stars from the sky had descended to rest upon the earth. On one of its strong yet tender branches sat the charming child form of Lord Krishna.
His dark complexion was adorned with the golden glow of his yellow garment (Pitambar). The peacock feather on his head gently swayed with the breeze. A playful and sweet smile rested on his lips, and his eyes sparkled with innocent mischief.
At times, he would lean toward a branch, carefully observe a fragrant flower, and then pluck it with a smile. Sometimes he would bring the flower close to his nose to enjoy its fragrance, and then lovingly toss it down to his friends standing below.
Below him stood his dear companions, their faces glowing with joy and excitement. As soon as a flower fell, they would laugh and eagerly catch it. One friend would call out,
“Hey Kanhaiya! Pluck that red flower too!”
Another would say,
“Give some to us as well, don’t keep them all for yourself!”
Hearing this, Krishna would burst into laughter and drop several flowers at once. All the friends would then run to gather them, laughing cheerfully.
Nearby stood a beautiful peacock, lifting its neck to watch this joyful play, as if it too was delighted by the scene. A little distance away, a white calf stood calmly, gazing lovingly at its dear Gopal, as though it too was filled with happiness. Colorful butterflies fluttered around the flowers, dancing in the air.
At that moment, two or three young maidens of Braj slowly arrived from one side of the forest. Standing behind the tree, they began to watch this scene.
One of them smiled and said,
“Look! Our Kanhaiya is sitting on the tree today, distributing a treasure of flowers.”
Another laughed and said,
“Yes, and his friends are taking them as if they are receiving priceless gems.”
The third said lovingly,
“Truly, wherever Kanhaiya is, even a simple game becomes a divine play.”
Watching all this, the maidens were filled with love and joy. Their hearts overflowed with affection upon seeing this childlike divine pastime.
Whenever the gentle breeze shook the branches, some flowers would fall on their own, creating a shower of blossoms. At that moment, the entire forest seemed to sway with joy.
Child Krishna, while distributing flowers to his friends, looked so happy that it felt as though he was not just giving flowers, but sharing the love of his heart.
