यह पूरी कथा भागवत पुराण में विस्तार से आती है।
चलिए इसकी पूरी कहानी सरल और रोचक तरीके से देखते हैं:
🌼दामोदर लीला नलकूवर और मणिग्रीव का उद्धार
💠अहंकारी कुबेर देवपुत्र
नलकूवर और मणिग्रीव, धन के देवता कुबेर के पुत्र थे।
अपार वैभव पाकर वे अहंकार और मद में चूर रहते थे।
एक बार वे मस्ती में मदिरा और अप्सराओं के साथ वन के सरोवर में निर्वस्त्र जल क्रीड़ा कर रहे थे।
उसी समय वहां से देवर्षि नारद गुजरे।
महर्षि नारद को देख कर अप्सराओं ने उनका सम्मान किया पर इन दोनों देवपुत्रों ने नारद जी का सम्मान नहीं किया।
नारद जी ने उन्हें शिक्षा देने के लिए कहा “तुम शरीर के अभिमान में डूबे हो।
जाओ, वृक्ष बनो!
जब भगवान खुद तुम्हें मुक्त करेंगे, तभी तुम्हें ज्ञान मिलेगा।”
और दोनों जुड़वां अरण्य वृक्ष (यमल अर्जुन) बन गए।
🌿कृष्ण को बांधना – यशोदा का प्रेम कई वर्षों बाद…
गोकुल में एक दिन नन्हें कृष्ण ने माखन चुराकर ग्वालिनों की शिकायतें बढ़ा दीं।
माँ यशोदा ने प्रेम से, पर सीख देने के लिए, उन्हें ओखली से बांध दिया।
कृष्ण जी छोटे थे, पर लीला अपरंपार।
वे बंधी हुई ओखली को घसीटते-घसीटते उन दो विशाल वृक्षों के बीच ले गए यही नारद द्वारा शापित नलकूवर और मणिग्रीव थे।
⚡ वृक्षों का गिरना और दिव्य रूप का प्रकट होना
कृष्ण जी ने तनिक जोर लगाया और देखते ही देखते दोनों विशाल वृक्ष “धड़ाम!” गिर पड़े।
वृक्ष गिरते ही उनके भीतर से दो दिव्य पुरुष तेजोमय देह में प्रकट हुए।
वही नलकूवर और मणिग्रीव।
वे हाथ जोड़कर बोले “प्रभु! आपने हमारे अहंकार को दूर किया।
नारद जी के वरदान से आज हम आपके दर्शन पा सके।
हमें क्षमा करें।”
और भगवान कृष्ण ने उन्हें मुक्त कर दिया।
यही दृश्य इस चित्र में दिखाया गया है ओखली से बंधे नन्हे कृष्ण

🌼Damodara Leela: The Liberation of Nalakuvara and Manigriva
💠The Arrogant Sons of Kubera
Nalakuvara and Manigriva were the sons of Kubera, the god of wealth.
Having attained immense wealth, they were consumed by arrogance and pride.
One day, they were playfully bathing naked in a forest lake with apsaras (celestial nymphs), intoxicated by wine and revelry.
At that moment, the sage Narada happened to pass by.
Seeing Sage Narada, the apsaras respectfully greeted him, but these two sons of Kubera did not show him any respect.
To teach them a lesson, Narada said, “You are steeped in the pride of your bodies.
Go, become trees!
Only when God himself liberates you will you attain true knowledge.”
And the two twins became Aranya trees (Yama-Arjuna trees).
🌿Krishna is Bound – Yashoda's Love Many years later…
One day in Gokul, little Krishna stole butter, increasing the complaints of the milkmaids.
Mother Yashoda, out of love but also to teach him a lesson, tied him to a mortar.
Krishna was small, but his divine play was boundless.
He dragged the mortar between those two huge trees – the very trees that were Nalakuvara and Manigriva, cursed by Narada.
⚡ The Trees Fall and the Divine Form Appears
Krishna exerted a little force, and in an instant, both the huge trees fell with a crash!
As soon as the trees fell, two divine beings emerged from within them in radiant forms.
They were Nalakuvara and Manigriva.
They folded their hands and said, “Lord! You have removed our arrogance.
Because of Narada's blessing, we have been able to have your darshan (divine vision) today.
Please forgive us.”
And Lord Krishna liberated them. This is the scene depicted in this painting: the young Krishna tied to a mortar.
Behind him are two fallen trees, and from them emerge two divine beings, expressing their gratitude to Krishna with folded hands.

✔️ Ego blinds a person.
✔️ God's love and compassion are the same for everyone.
✔️ True liberation is attained when the ego is shattered.
✔️ God, even in the form of a child, grants salvation to demons and the arrogant.
