🍁The Cost of Internal Discord🍁
Long ago, a remarkable bird named Bharunda lived in a dense forest. Its most unique feature was that it had a single body but two heads. Despite sharing the same body, the two heads did not get along at all. They constantly tried to impose their will on each other and quarreled over trivial matters.
If one head wanted to go east, the other would insist on heading west. Consequently, poor Bharunda could never quite make it anywhere properly. Other creatures in the forest marveled at this foolishness, thinking how happy a life the bird could lead if only the two heads worked together.
One day, Bharunda was wandering along a riverbank in search of food. Suddenly, the first head spotted a beautiful, ripe, and fragrant fruit. Upon tasting it, the flavor was so sweet that it was filled with delight. Just then, the second head said, "Brother, let me taste a bit of that fruit too."
The first head replied arrogantly, "I found this fruit, so I alone shall eat it."
The second head reasoned, "We share the same body and stomach. We ought to share everything we eat."
But the first head refused to listen. It ate the entire fruit by itself. The second head felt insulted and immediately resolved to take revenge.
A few days later, the two set out in search of food again. This time, the second head spotted a fruit. Just as it was about to eat it, the first head cried out in alarm, "Stop! That is a poisonous fruit. Eating it will kill us."
The second head retorted sarcastically, "You didn't remember our unity when you ate that delicious fruit all by yourself. Why are you concerned about me today?"
The first head tried hard to explain, "If you eat this fruit, the harm won't be yours alone; it will affect both of us." However, anger and a desire for revenge had clouded the judgment of the second head. Ignoring all counsel, it consumed the entire poisonous fruit.
Before long, the poison spread throughout its body. Both heads writhed in agony, and in moments, Bharunda perished. Hostility towards its own companion and internal discord brought its life to an end.
The creatures of the forest learned a valuable lesson from this: those living within a family, society, or any group should never harbor enmity towards one another. Unity brings success and happiness, whereas jealousy, arrogance, and a vengeful spirit ultimately lead only to destruction.
Moral:
Internal discord, jealousy, and arrogance always lead to ruin. Unity, love, and cooperation are the greatest strengths in life.
