मनुष्य मृत्यु के बाद स्वर्ग मिलेगा, इस उम्मीद में पूरी जिंदगी बहुत कुछ करता रहता है।
कोई उपवास करता है,

कभी-कभी लगता है, जैसे स्वर्ग भी कोई नई हाउसिंग सोसायटी हो—जहाँ एक छोटा-सा फ्लैट पाने के लिए जीवन भर पुण्य के अंक जमा करने पड़ते हैं!
लेकिन एक पल ठहरकर यह भी सोचिए…
क्या पता, शायद हम पहले से ही स्वर्ग में जी रहे
सुबह उठते ही एक बार अपने आसपास ध्यान से देखिए।
एक बटन दबाते ही अँधेरा रोशनी में बदल जाता है।
दूसरा बटन दबाते ही पंखा चल पड़ता है।
तीसरा बटन दबाते ही ठंडी हवा पूरे कमरे में फैल जाती है।
नल खोलते ही पानी बहने लगता है।
गैस जलाते ही कुछ ही मिनटों में खाना तैयार हो जाता है।
जेब से मोबाइल निकालते ही पूरी दुनिया आपकी हथेली में आ जाती है।
हजारों किलोमीटर दूर रहने वाले आपके प्रियजन भी कुछ ही सेकंड में आपके सामने दिखाई देने लगते हैं।
इतनी सारी अद्भुत सुविधाएँ हमारे पास हैं…लेकिन हम उन्हें बहुत सामान्य मान चुके हैं।
हम ऐसे व्यवहार करते हैं, जैसे यह सब हमारा जन्मसिद्ध अधिकार हो।
एक बार कल्पना कीजिए…
अगर दो सौ साल पहले का कोई राजा आज आपके घर आ जाए, तो शायद वह अपने महल में वापस जाने के लिए भी तैयार न हो।
वह हैरानी से पूछेगा—
“यह क्या है?”— गर्म पानी!
“और यह?”— ठंडी हवा!
“यह क्या है?”
— पूरे संसार की जानकारी!
“और यह?”— दस मिनट में घर पहुँच जाने वाला खाना!
शायद वह कुछ देर चुप रहेगा और फिर मुस्कुराकर कहेगा—
“मैंने पूरी जिंदगी राज किया, युद्ध जीते, अपार संपत्ति हासिल की… लेकिन ऐसी सुविधाएँ मुझे कभी नहीं मिलीं।”
और यह सच भी है।
आज एक सामान्य इंसान के पास कई ऐसी सुविधाएँ हैं, जो पुराने जमाने के सबसे शक्तिशाली राजाओं के पास भी नहीं थीं।
फिर भी…हम खुश नहीं हैं।
क्योंकि इंसान के पास जो चीज होती है, उसकी कीमत धीरे-धीरे कम होती जाती है।
AC चल रहा है-खुशी नहीं होती।
AC बंद हो जाए, तभी परेशानी महसूस होती है।
मोबाइल है—खुशी नहीं होती।
नेटवर्क चला जाए तो लगता है जैसे पूरी दुनिया खत्म हो गई।
अपना घर है—संतोष नहीं है।
पड़ोसी का घर बड़ा है, इसका दुख है।
अपनी गाड़ी है—तृप्ति नहीं है।
दूसरे की गाड़ी बड़ी है, इसकी चिंता है।
यानी इंसान अपने ही स्वर्ग में खड़ा होकर…दूसरे के स्वर्ग से अपनी तुलना करके दुखी होता रहता है।
लेकिन इसी धरती पर एक दूसरी दुनिया भी मौजूद है।
आज भी लाखों लोग एक घड़े पानी के लिए घंटों लाइन में खड़े रहते हैं।
लाखों परिवारों के पास पक्का घर तक नहीं है।
दिन में दो वक्त का खाना मिलेगा या नहीं, यह भी निश्चित नहीं है।
बच्चों के सपने स्कूल की दहलीज तक पहुँचने से पहले ही टूट जाते हैं।
कई लोगों के पास शरीर ढकने के लिए भी पर्याप्त कपड़े नहीं हैं।
हम जिन चीजों को “सामान्य” समझते हैं…
वही सुविधाएँ किसी और के लिए जिंदगी का सबसे बड़ा सपना हैं।
हमें AC का रिमोट न मिले तो गुस्सा आता है।
उन्हें धूप से बचने के लिए पेड़ की छाया भी नसीब नहीं होती।
हम डाइट चार्ट खोजते हैं।
वे यह सोचते हुए सो जाते हैं कि अगला खाना कब और कहाँ से मिलेगा।
तब समझ में आता है…स्वर्ग और नरक शायद मृत्यु के बाद मिलने वाली जगहें नहीं हैं।
वे यहीं हैं।
इसी धरती पर।
इसी शहर में।
इसी सड़क पर।
कभी-कभी तो…
एक ही दीवार की दो तरफ।
एक घर का बच्चा अपना नया मोबाइल थोड़ा धीमा होने पर परेशान हो जाता है।
सामने वाले घर का बच्चा ऑनलाइन पढ़ाई करने के लिए मोबाइल न होने पर रोता है।
एक व्यक्ति गर्म पानी पाँच मिनट देर से आने पर शिकायत करता है।
दूसरा व्यक्ति आज पानी मिल गया, इतना ही कहकर भगवान को धन्यवाद देता है।
फर्क सिर्फ परिस्थितियों में नहीं है..फर्क दृष्टिकोण में भी है।
कुछ लोगों ने कठिन परिस्थितियों में भी मुस्कुराना सीख लिया है।
और कुछ लोग सारी सुविधाएँ होने के बावजूद शिकायतों से बाहर नहीं निकल पाते।
इंसान की सबसे अजीब आदत है वह रोज यह गिनता है कि उसके पास क्या नहीं है…
लेकिन कभी यह नहीं गिनता कि उसके पास क्या-क्या है।
आज रात सोने से पहले सिर्फ पाँच चीजें लिखकर देखिए—
आज मैं साँस ले रहा हूँ।
आज मेरे पास पीने के लिए पानी है।
आज मुझे खाना मिला।
आज मेरे पास रहने के लिए एक घर है।
आज मेरे अपने लोग मेरे साथ हैं।
शायद…आपकी जिंदगी को देखने का नजरिया ही बदल जाए।
शायद “स्वर्ग” कोई जगह नहीं है…
एक अनुभव है।
और उसी तरह “नरक” भी कोई जगह नहीं है…
बल्कि जो मिला है उसे भूलकर लगातार शिकायतों में जीना ही नरक है।
जो हमारे पास है, उसके लिए कृतज्ञ होना—स्वर्ग है। जो मिला है उसे भूलकर, जो नहीं मिला उसकी शिकायत करते रहना—नरक है।
मृत्यु के बाद क्या होता है, यह कोई निश्चित रूप से नहीं जानता।
लेकिन जीते-जी हमें यह सुंदर धरती मिली है।
साँस लेने के लिए हवा मिली है।
पीने के लिए पानी मिला है।
खाने के लिए अन्न मिला है।
प्यार करने वाले लोग मिले हैं।
शायद भगवान भी मुस्कुराकर कहते होंगे—
“मैंने तुम्हें स्वर्ग में ही रखा है…
लेकिन तुमने वहाँ भी शिकायतों का दफ्तर खोल रखा है!”
इसलिए..
आज से शिकायतें मत गिनिए।कृतज्ञताएँ गिनिए।
क्योंकि…कृतज्ञता से भरे हृदय में ही सच्चा स्वर्ग होता है।

From today on, don't count your complaints. Count your gratitude.
