वृंदा के श्राप से पत्थर बने भगवान विष्णु? जानिए शालिग्राम बनने की अद्भुत कथा

🌺🌺 शालिग्राम कैसे बने भगवान विष्णु? 🌺🌺
तीनों लोकों में उस समय भय का वातावरण था।
असुरराज जलंधर को युद्ध में पराजित करना असंभव हो गया था। देवता बार-बार युद्ध करते, लेकिन हर बार जलंधर और भी प्रचंड होकर लौट आता।
आखिर उसकी शक्ति का रहस्य सामने आया।
जलंधर की पत्नी वृंदा ऐसी पतिव्रता थी, जिसकी तपस्या और निष्ठा ने उसके पति को अद्भुत शक्ति प्रदान कर रखी थी। जब तक वृंदा की पवित्रता अटूट थी, तब तक जलंधर को कोई पराजित नहीं कर सकता था।
देवता भगवान विष्णु के पास पहुँचे।
धर्म की रक्षा के लिए श्रीहरि को एक ऐसा निर्णय लेना पड़ा, जिसे स्वयं उनके हृदय ने भी स्वीकार करना कठिन समझा।
उन्होंने जलंधर का रूप धारण किया और वृंदा के सामने पहुँच गए।
वृंदा ने उन्हें अपना पति समझ लिया।
लेकन कुछ ही क्षणों में…
उसके अंतर्मन ने उसे संकेत दिया।
वह ठिठक गई।
उसने सामने खड़े व्यक्ति को ध्यान से देखा।
“तुम… मेरे स्वामी नहीं हो!”
और अगले ही क्षण भगवान विष्णु अपने वास्तविक रूप में उसके सामने खड़े थे।
वृंदा स्तब्ध रह गई।
उसकी आँखों में आँसू आ गए।
जिस भगवान को वह जीवन भर अपना आराध्य मानती आई थी, उसी ने उसके विश्वास को छल से तोड़ दिया था।
वृंदा का दुःख क्रोध में बदल गया।
उसने काँपती हुई आवाज़ में कहा—
“हे विष्णु! आपने मेरे विश्वास को पत्थर की तरह कठोर कर दिया। आपने मेरे साथ छल किया है… इसलिए आप भी पत्थर बन जाइए!”
शाप निकल चुका था।
और तब एक अद्भुत घटना हुई।
भगवान विष्णु ने उस शाप को रोकने का प्रयास नहीं किया।
उन्होंने शांत भाव से वृंदा के वचन को स्वीकार कर लिया।
क्षणभर में श्रीहरि का दिव्य स्वरूप शिला में परिवर्तित हो गया।
वृंदा अपने सामने भगवान को शिला के रूप में देखकर स्वयं टूट गई।
उसे लगा—उसके क्रोध ने क्या कर दिया!
लेकिन भगवान विष्णु ने उसी शिला-स्वरूप से उसे आश्वासन दिया—
“वृंदा, तुम्हारी भक्ति व्यर्थ नहीं जाएगी।”
फिर उन्होंने कहा—
“तुम्हारा यह त्याग और तुम्हारी पवित्रता संसार में सदा पूजित होगी। तुम्हारा स्वरूप पवित्र तुलसी के रूप में प्रतिष्ठित होगा। और मैं शालिग्राम रूप में तुम्हारे साथ रहूँगा।”
वृंदा की आँखों से आँसू बहने लगे।
उसने देखा—जहाँ उसका जीवन समाप्त हुआ, वहीं उसकी भक्ति का एक नया रूप जन्म ले रहा है।
उसका शरीर दिव्य रूप में परिवर्तित हुआ…
और तुलसी के रूप में उसकी पवित्र उपस्थिति संसार में स्थापित हो गई।
भगवान विष्णु ने कहा—
“तुलसी के बिना मेरी पूजा भी अधूरी मानी जाएगी।”
और इस प्रकार एक विचित्र लेकिन दिव्य संबंध बन गया—
वृंदा बनी तुलसी…
और भगवान विष्णु बने शालिग्राम।
लेकिन यह केवल दो रूपों का परिवर्तन नहीं था।
यह उस वचन की अमर स्मृति थी, जिसमें एक भक्त के क्रोध को भी भगवान ने सम्मान दिया था।
इसीलिए जब किसी वैष्णव के पूजाघर में शालिग्राम के सामने तुलसी का पत्ता रखा जाता है, तो भक्त केवल पूजा नहीं करता
वह उस पूरी कथा को याद करता है—
एक ओर वह भगवान, जिन्होंने अपने भक्त के शाप को स्वीकार किया…
और दूसरी ओर वह भक्त, जिसकी भक्ति मृत्यु के बाद भी भगवान से अलग नहीं हुई।
कहा जाता है कि शालिग्राम के रूप में भगवान विष्णु का निवास गण्डकी क्षेत्र से जुड़ा है और इन्हीं पवित्र शिलाओं को वैष्णव परंपरा में श्रीहरि का स्वरूप मानकर पूजा जाता है।
और तभी समझ में आता है कि—
शालिग्राम के सामने तुलसी क्यों चढ़ाई जाती है।
क्योंकि वहाँ केवल भगवान विष्णु नहीं…
वहाँ वृंदा और श्रीहरि की पूरी कथा साथ खड़ी होती है।

Vrinda mistook him for her husband.

Vrinda was stunned.

She said in a trembling voice, "O Vishnu! You have hardened my faith like stone. You have deceived me... therefore, you too become stone!"
The curse had been pronounced.
And then a miraculous event occurred.
Lord Vishnu did not attempt to stop the curse.
He calmly accepted Vrinda's words.
In an instant, the divine form of Lord Vishnu transformed into a rock.
Vrinda was devastated to see the Lord before her in the form of a rock.
She wondered what her anger had done!
But Lord Vishnu, from that very rock form, reassured her:
"Vrinda, your devotion will not go in vain."
He then said:
"Your sacrifice and purity will forever be revered in the world. Your form will be revered as sacred Tulsi. And I will remain with you in the form of Shaligram."
Tears began to flow from Vrinda's eyes.
She saw—where her life ended, a new form of her devotion was being born.
Her body transformed into a divine form...
And her sacred presence in the form of Tulsi was established in the world.
Lord Vishnu said:
"Even my worship will be considered incomplete without Tulsi."
And thus a strange yet divine relationship was formed:
Vrinda became Tulsi...
and Lord Vishnu became Shaligram.
But this was not merely a transformation of two forms.
This was the immortal memory of that promise, in which God honored even the anger of a devotee.
That is why, when a Tulsi leaf is placed in front of the Shaligram in a Vaishnav's prayer room, the devotee doesn't simply perform the puja.
He remembers the entire story—
On one hand, the Lord who accepted his devotee's curse...
And on the other, the devotee whose devotion remained unseated even after death.
It is said that Lord Vishnu's abode in the form of Shaligram is associated with the Gandaki region, and these sacred stones are worshipped as the embodiment of Lord Hari in the Vaishnav tradition.
And only then does one understand—
Why Tulsi is offered in front of the Shaligram.
Because there is not only Lord Vishnu...
