द्वापर युग की बात है। वृंदावन में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के साथ अनेक ग्वालबाल खेला करते थे। उनमें दो मित्र थे—सुदामा और वत्स। सुदामा सभी से प्रेम करता था, जबकि वत्स स्वभाव से थोड़ा क्रोधी था। उसे अक्सर लगता कि लोग उसकी उपेक्षा करते हैं, इसलिए वह
एक दिन दोनों मित्र श्रीकृष्ण के साथ यमुना तट पर बैठे थे। तभी वत्स ने कहा, "कन्हैया! मैं कुछ लोगों को बिल्कुल पसंद नहीं करता। उनके दोष मुझे साफ दिखाई देते हैं। लेकिन सुदामा तो हर किसी की प्रशंसा करता रहता है।"
श्रीकृष्ण मुस्कुराए और बोले, "वत्स, क्या तुम बता सकते हो कि तुम उन लोगों से घृणा क्यों करते हो?"
वत्स तुरंत बोला, "हाँ! कोई अहंकारी है, कोई झूठ बोलता है, कोई स्वार्थी है। इसलिए मैं उनसे घृणा करता हूँ।"
फिर श्रीकृष्ण ने सुदामा से पूछा, "और तुम सबसे प्रेम क्यों करते हो?"
सुदामा कुछ देर मौन रहा। फिर बोला, "प्रभु, मैं इतना ही जानता हूँ कि हर व्यक्ति में कुछ न कुछ अच्छाई अवश्य होती है। बस उसी अच्छाई के कारण मेरा मन उनसे प्रेम करने लगता है।"
श्रीकृष्ण ने पास पड़े दो पात्र उठाए। एक में सुगंधित पुष्प थे और दूसरे में कीचड़ भरा था।
उन्होंने कहा, "जो व्यक्ति केवल दोष खोजता है, उसका मन इस कीचड़ के समान हो जाता है। उसे हर जगह गंदगी ही दिखाई देती है। लेकिन जो गुणों को पहचानता है, उसका हृदय इन पुष्पों की तरह सुगंध फैलाता है।"
फिर श्रीकृष्ण बोले, "वत्स! तुमने जिन लोगों से घृणा की, उनके दोष तो गिना दिए। अब बताओ, उनमें कोई एक गुण भी है?"
श्रीकृष्ण ने कहा, "यही मनुष्य की सबसे बड़ी भूल है। घृणा का कारण तो तुरंत याद रहता है, लेकिन प्रेम का कारण भूल जाता है। यदि तुम लोगों के गुणों को पहचानोगे, तो तुम्हारा हृदय प्रेम से भर जाएगा।"
वत्स की आँखों से आँसू बहने लगे। उसने सभी साथियों से क्षमा माँगी और निश्चय किया कि अब वह लोगों के दोष नहीं, उनके गुण देखेगा।
उस दिन से वृंदावन में उसका स्वभाव बदल गया। जो पहले उससे दूर रहते थे, वही अब उसके प्रिय मित्र बन गए। उसे समझ आ गया कि प्रेम से संबंध बनते हैं और घृणा से केवल मन अशांत होता है।
शिक्षा:
दूसरों के दोष देखने से पहले उनके गुणों को पहचानिए। घृणा सबसे पहले हमारे अपने मन को जलाती है, जबकि प्रेम जीवन में शांति, सुख और मधुरता लाता है। इसलिए भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की शिक्षा अपनाइए—गुणों से प्रेम कीजिए, दोषों से नहीं।

🍁Shri Krishna taught the secret of love🍁
It is a matter of Dwapara Yuga. Many cowherds used to play ball with Lord Krishna in Vrindavan. There were two friends among them – Sudama and Vatsa. Sudama loved everyone, whereas Vatsa was a little short-tempered by nature. He often felt that people ignored him, so he started hating many people in his heart.
One day both the friends were sitting on the banks of Yamuna with Shri Krishna. Then Vatsa said, "Kanhaiya! I don't like some people at all. I can clearly see their faults. But Sudama keeps praising everyone."
Shri Krishna smiled and said, "Vatsa, can you tell why you hate those people?"
Vatsa immediately said, "Yes! Some are arrogant, some lie, some are selfish. That's why I hate them."
Then Shri Krishna asked Sudama, "And why do you love everyone?"
Shri Krishna picked up two vessels lying nearby. One had fragrant flowers and the other was filled with mud.
He said, "The person who only looks for faults, his mind becomes like this mud. He sees only filth everywhere. But the one who recognizes the virtues, his heart spreads fragrance like these flowers."
Then Shri Krishna said, "Vatsa! You have enumerated the faults of those people whom you hated. Now tell me, is there any virtue among them?"
Vatsa started thinking. After some time he said, "Lord, the truth is that they too have some good qualities. Some have kindness, some have hard work, some have the habit of speaking the truth. But I never paid attention to those qualities."
Shri Krishna said, "This is man's biggest mistake. The reason for hatred is remembered immediately, but the reason for love is forgotten. If you recognize the qualities of people, your heart will be filled with love."
Tears started flowing from Vatsa's eyes. He apologized to all his companions and decided that now he would look at people's qualities rather than their faults.
From that day his nature changed in Vrindavan. Those who earlier stayed away from him, now became his dear friends. He understood that relationships are formed through love and hatred only disturbs the mind.
Education:
Recognize the virtues of others before looking at their faults. Hate is the first to burn our own mind, whereas love brings peace, happiness and sweetness in life. Therefore, follow the teachings of Lord Krishna – love the virtues, not the vices.
