भक्त दानसाय की अद्भुत लीला | Bhagat Dansai Story – भक्ति, त्याग और भगवान पर अटूट विश्वास की चमत्कारी कथा!

भक्तों की महिमा अपरंपार है। उनकी लीला वही समझ सकता है जिसने कभी उस पतितपावन प्रभु की झाँकी देखी हो। भगवद्भक्तों के माध्यम से ही मनुष्य को भगवान् की एक झलक प्राप्त होती है।
भगत दानसाय का जन्म अड़ंगपुर ग्राम में हुआ। दुर्भाग्यवश उनके माता-पिता का देहांत उनकी अल्पायु में ही हो गया। इसके बाद उनकी बुआजी ने बड़े स्नेह और सावधानी से उनका पालन-पोषण किया, किंतु यह सहारा भी अधिक दिनों तक न रहा। जब बुआजी का निधन हुआ, तब दानसाय मात्र सत्रह वर्ष के थे। जीवन की इस कठोरता ने उनके हृदय में एक सच्चे संरक्षक और नित्य आधार की खोज की भावना जगा दी।
कुछ समय पश्चात् उन्होंने एक ज़मींदार के यहाँ नौकरी कर ली, जहाँ उन्हें गौ-चराने का कार्य सौंपा गया। वे अत्यंत ईमानदारी से अपना कर्तव्य निभाते थे। जहाँ अन्य ग्वाले व्यर्थ की बातों में समय नष्ट करते, वहीं दानसाय भक्ति-भाव से भजन गाते रहते।
एक दिन दुर्भाग्यवश उनकी एक गाय पास के खेत में चली गई। खेत के स्वामी ने क्रोधित होकर दानसाय की कमर पर सोटा मारा और कटु शब्दों में उन्हें अपमानित किया। इस घटना से दानसाय को अत्यंत ग्लानि हुई। अपनी भूल के प्रायश्चित स्वरूप उन्होंने निश्चय किया कि अगले दिन वे नदी में एक पैर पर खड़े रहेंगे और रात भी वहीं व्यतीत करेंगे। लोगों ने बहुत समझाया, पर वे अपने संकल्प पर अडिग रहे। उन्होंने उस शीतल और कठोर रात्रि को नदी में खड़े-खड़े बिताया।
अगले दिन जब खेत के स्वामी को इस तपस्या का पता चला, तो उसे गहरा पश्चात्ताप हुआ। वह विनीत भाव से क्षमा माँगने आया। दानसाय ने सहज भाव से कहा—
“भाई, किसान के लिए उसकी खेती ही सब कुछ होती है। मुझे तुमसे कोई शिकायत नहीं, मैंने तो अपनी भूल का ही सुधार किया है।”
उनके इस क्षमाशील स्वभाव से खेत वाला अत्यंत प्रभावित हुआ और उसने उन्हें एक बछिया दान में दी।
कुछ समय बाद दानसाय ने नौकरी त्याग दी और जंगल में एक कुटिया बनाकर अपनी गौ के साथ जीवन यापन करने लगे। गाँव के एक पंडितजी से उन्होंने अक्षरज्ञान प्राप्त किया और रामचरितमानस का अध्ययन किया। वे दिन-रात उसी में तल्लीन रहने लगे। जब वे रामायण का पाठ करते, तो उनकी गौ सामने आकर मस्तक टेक देती। दानसाय गौ के सींगों पर रामायण रखकर घंटों पाठ करते रहते। आसपास के लोग भी आकर यह अद्भुत सत्संग सुनते।
दानसाय पूर्णतः त्यागी थे। यदि भोजन के बाद दक्षिणा में कुछ सामग्री मिलती, तो वे या तो उसे लेते ही नहीं, और यदि ले भी लेते तो बंदरों या गौओं को खिला देते। उनका कहना था—
“मुझे उतना ही चाहिए, जितना आज के लिए पर्याप्त हो। कल का प्रबंध भगवान् स्वयं करेंगे। संग्रह करने से क्या लाभ?”
वे अपनी गौ को भी अपनी संपत्ति नहीं मानते थे। उससे उत्पन्न बछड़ों को वे अन्य भक्तों में बाँट देते थे।
उनके जीवन से जुड़ी अनेक अद्भुत घटनाएँ प्रचलित हैं। एक बार गाँव में एक काला साँप बार-बार दिखाई देता था। लोग उसे मारने पर आमादा थे, तभी दानसाय वहाँ पहुँचे। उन्होंने सबको रोककर साँप को अपनी भुजा पर लपेट लिया, उसे दूध पिलाया और जंगल में छोड़ दिया। इस दृश्य ने गाँव वालों को स्तब्ध कर दिया।
एक बार अनावृष्टि के कारण गाँव में भयंकर अकाल पड़ा। लोगों ने दानसाय से प्रार्थना की कि वे इस संकट से मुक्ति दिलाएँ। दानसाय ने कहा—
“इस वर्ष तुम लोगों ने दूसरे गाँव का जो धन चुराया है, यह उसी का फल है। यदि वह लौटा दिया जाए, तो संकट टल सकता है।”
पहले तो लोगों ने इस बात को नकार दिया, पर दानसाय ने एक स्थान खुदवाकर चोरी का धन निकलवा दिया। अपराधी लज्जा से सिर झुकाए खड़े रह गए। धन लौटा दिया गया और शीघ्र ही वर्षा हुई। तब से लोग दानसाय की महिमा गाने लगे।
एक अन्य घटना में किसी व्यक्ति का ऊँट गुम हो गया। उसने दानसाय से प्रार्थना की। दानसाय मुस्कराकर बोले—
“मैं कोई योगी नहीं हूँ। यदि भगवान् की इच्छा होगी, तो तुम्हारा ऊँट उस पहाड़ी के उस पार एक वृक्ष में फँसा मिलेगा।”
वहाँ जाकर देखने पर वही सत्य निकला।
उनकी ख्याति दूर-दूर तक फैल गई। लोग दर्शन के लिए आने लगे। एक दिन प्रातः लोगों ने देखा कि दानसाय ठंड से जड़ हो गए हैं, उनकी श्वास का भी पता न चला। उन्हें मृत समझकर एक नाले में डाल दिया गया। किंतु अगले दिन वे गाँव की गलियों में पूर्ववत् विचरते दिखाई दिए। लोगों ने इसे अफ़वाह समझकर हँसी उड़ाई।
कुछ समय बाद दानसाय ने कहा—
“भाई, मैं वृद्ध हो चला हूँ, न जाने कब इस संसार से विदा ले लूँ।”
अगले ही दिन उन्होंने वास्तव में शरीर त्याग दिया। उनकी चिता सजाई गई, पर जैसे ही अग्नि दी गई, चिता हिल उठी। भयभीत होकर लोग भाग गए। अगले दिन चिता का कोई चिह्न तक न था। कुछ समय बाद दानसाय अपनी गौ के साथ पुनः कुटिया में दिखाई दिए। लोग विस्मित होकर बोले—
“महाराज, यह कैसी लीला है?”
दानसाय ने सहज भाव से कहा—
“भाई, मैं तो भगवद्भजन में लीन रहता हूँ, तुम लोग मुझे मरा समझ लेते हो।”
गत वर्ष भक्तप्रवर भगत दानसाय ने सदा के लिए इस नश्वर संसार का त्याग कर दिया।

The glory of devotees is boundless. Only one who has glimpsed that Lord—the Purifier of the Fallen—can truly comprehend their divine play. It is through God's devotees that a human being catches a glimpse of the Divine.
Bhagat Dansay was born in the village of Adangpur. Unfortunately, his parents passed away while he was still very young. Subsequently, his paternal aunt raised him with great affection and care, yet even this support did not last long; Dansay was merely seventeen when she, too, passed away. The harshness of life awakened in his heart a longing for a true protector and an eternal anchor.Some time later, he took up emp
loyment with a landlord, where he was assigned the task of herding cows. He performed his duties with utmost sincerity. While other cowherds wasted their time in idle chatter, Dansay would sing devotional hymns with a heart full of faith.
One day, unfortunately, one of his cows strayed into a nearby field. Enraged, the field's owner struck Dansay across the waist with a staff and humiliated him with harsh words. This incident left Dansay deeply remorseful. As penance for his lapse, he resolved to stand on one leg in the river the following day and spend the night there as well. Although people tried to dissuade him, he remained steadfast in his resolve. He spent that cold, harsh night standing in the river.
The next day, when the field owner learned of this penance, he was filled with deep regret. He came to ask for forgiveness with great humility. Dansay replied simply—
"Brother, for a farmer, his crops are everything. I hold no grievance against you; I was merely atoning for my own mistake."
The field owner was deeply moved by this forgiving nature and gifted him a heifer.
Some time later, Dansay gave up his job, built a small hut in the forest, and began living there with his cow. He acquired basic literacy from a village *Pandit* and studied the *Ramcharitmanas*, becoming completely engrossed in it day and night. Whenever he recited the *Ramayana*, his cow would come and rest its head before him. Dansay would place the *Ramayana* on the cow's horns and recite from it for hours. People from the neighborhood would also gather to listen to this wondrous spiritual gathering.
Dansay was a man of complete renunciation. If he received any offerings after a meal, he would either refuse them entirely or, if he did accept them, feed them to the monkeys or cows. He used to say—
“I need only enough for today. God Himself will provide for tomorrow. What is the benefit of hoarding?”
He did not even consider his cow to be his personal property; he would distribute the calves born to it among other devotees.
Many remarkable incidents are associated with his life. Once, a black snake was frequently sighted in the village. People were intent on killing it when Dansay arrived. He stopped them, wrapped the snake around his arm, fed it milk, and released it into the forest. This sight left the villagers astonished.
On one occasion, a severe famine struck the village due to a lack of rain. People prayed to Dansay to deliver them from this crisis. Dansay said—
“This is the consequence of the wealth you stole from another village this year. If it is returned, the crisis might be averted.”
Initially, the people denied the theft, but Dansay had a specific spot dug up and the stolen wealth retrieved. The culprits stood with their heads bowed in shame. The wealth was returned, and soon after, it rained. From then on, people began to sing praises of Dansay’s greatness.
In another incident, a man lost his camel and prayed to Dansay for help. Dansay smiled and said—
“I am no *Yogi*. If it is God's will, your camel will be found caught in a tree on the other side of that hill.” Upon investigation, this proved to be true.
His fame spread far and wide, and people began flocking to see him. One morning, people found Dansay frozen stiff from the cold, showing no signs of breathing. Presuming him dead, they cast his body into a ditch. Yet, the very next day, he was seen wandering the village lanes just as before. People dismissed this as a mere rumor and scoffed at the idea.
Some time later, Dansay remarked—
“Brothers, I have grown old; who knows when I might depart from this world?”
The very next day, he indeed shed his mortal coil. His funeral pyre was prepared, but the moment the fire was lit, the pyre began to shake. Terrified, the people fled. By the next day, not a trace of the pyre remained. Yet, some time later, Dansay reappeared in his hut alongside his cow. Astonished, the people asked—
“Maharaj, what divine play is this?”
Dansay replied with simple composure—
“Brothers, I remain immersed in devotion to the Lord; you simply mistake me for dead.”
Last year, the devout Bhagat Dansay finally departed from this mortal world forever.
