एक थे ग्वारिया बाबा। वृन्दावन में ही रहते थे। बिहारी जी को अपना यार कहते थे। सिर्फ कहते नहीं, मानते भी थे। नियम था बिहारी जी को नित्य सायं शयन करवाने जाते थे।
एक बार शयन आरती करवाने जा रहे थे। बिहारी जी की गली में बढ़िया मोदक बन रहे थे। अच्छी खुशबू आ रही थी। चार मोदक मांग लिए बिहारी जी के लिए ! वृन्दावन के लोग बिहारी जी के भक्तों का बड़ा आदर करते है। उन्होंने मना नहीं किया। एक डोने में बांध दिये साथ में। बाबा भीतर गए तो बिहारी जी के भोग के पट आ चुके थे।
ग्वारिया बाबा जी ने वही बैठकर अपना कम्बल बिछाया और उस पर बैठकर अपने मन के भाव में खो गए। वहाँ बिहारी जी की आरती का समय हुआ तो श्री गौसाई जी बड़ा प्रयास कर रहे हैं लेकिन ठाकुर जी के मंदिर का पट नहीं खुल रहा। बड़े हैरान इधर उधर देख रहें। एक संत कोने में बैठे सब दृश्य आरंभ से देख रहें थे। पुजारी जी ने लाचारी से देखा तो संत बोले–‘उधर ग्वारिया बाबा बैठे हैं उनसे पूछो वो बता देंगे।’ गौसाईंजी ने बाबा से कहा–‘रे बाबा तेरे यार
तो दरवाजा ही न खोल रहियो ?’बाबा हड़बड़ा कर उठे। रोम रोम पुलकित हो रहा था बाबा का।
बाबा ने कहा–‘जय जय ! अब जाओ !’और बाबा ने पुजारी से कहा–अब खोलो।’ पुजारी जी ने जब दरवाजा खोलने का प्रयास किया। हल्का सा छूते ही दरवाजा खुल गया। पुजारी जी ने आरती की और बिहारी जी को शयन करवा दिया। लेकिन आज पुजारी जी के मन में यह बात लगी है–‘आज मैं प्रयास करके हार गयो लेकिन दरवाजा नहीं खुला। लेकिन बाबा ने कहा और दरवाजा खुल गया।
पुजारी जी ग्वारिया बाबा के पास गए और कहा–‘बाबा आज तुझे तेरे यार की सौगंध है। साँची साँची कह दें, आज तेरे यार ने क्या खेल खेलो।’
ग्वारिया बाबा हंस कर बोले–‘जय जय ! जब आप भोग के लिए दरवाजा खोल रहे थे। तब बिहारी जी मेरे पास मोदक खा रहे थे। अभी मैंने उनका मुँह भी नहीं धुलाया था की आपने आवाज दे दी। उनका मुँह साफ कर देना। जाईये उनका मुख तो धुला दीजिये उनके मुख पर झूठन लगी है।’
गौसाईं जी ने स्नान किया मंदिर में गए तो देखा की ठाकुर जी के मुख पर तो मोदक का झूठन लगी थी।
सच में रहस्य रस है ठाकुर जी की सेवा में ! अधिकार रखिये श्री ठाकुर जी पर। सर्वस न्यौछावर करके उनकी सेवा में सुख मिलता है। अनहोनी होती है फिर सेवा की कृपा से। इसे सिर्फ श्री कृष्ण भक्त ही समझ सकते हैं।
दूसरों को ऐसी बातें समझ नहीं आती। कृष्ण भक्त तो ठाकुर जी की हरेक कथा को अपने मन की आँखों से साक्षात् देख लेते है। उसी में आनंद लेते है। फिर दुनिया की भी परवाह नहीं करते।
ठाकुर जी की तरफ जो सच्चे मन से बढ़ता है फिर ठाकुर जी भी उसके जीवन में ऐसा खेल खेलते है कि जिसे वो अपना समझता है और जिन्दगी भर अपना समझना चाहता है। जल्दी ही उसकी सारी पोल खोल देते हैं। और सच में जो सच्चे मन से ठाकुर जी की शरण आ गयो उसे फिर संसार की चिंता नहीं रहती। उसकी चिंता फिर ठाकुर जी स्वयं करते है।

There was a saint named Gwariya Baba who lived in Vrindavan. He considered Bihari Ji his friend—not just in name, but in true spirit. It was his daily routine to go and put Bihari Ji to sleep every evening.
Once, while on his way to perform the *Shayan Aarti* (the ritual of putting the deity to rest), he smelled delicious *modaks* being prepared in the lane leading to the temple. Enticed by the aroma, he asked for four *modaks* for Bihari Ji. The people of Vrindavan deeply respect Bihari Ji’s devotees, so they readily agreed and packed the *modaks* in a leaf bowl for him. When Baba arrived inside, the temple doors had already been closed for the *Bhog* (offering) ritual. Gwariya Baba spread his blanket right th
ere, sat down, and became immersed in his devotion. When the time for the *Aarti* arrived, Shri Gosai Ji tried repeatedly to open the temple doors, but they would not budge. He looked around in bewilderment. A saint, who had been sitting in a corner and watching the entire scene unfold, noticed the priest's helplessness and said, "Gwariya Baba is sitting over there; ask him—he will tell you."
Gosai Ji asked Baba, "Hey Baba, your friend isn't opening the door at all?" Baba stood up in a flurry of excitement; every pore of his body was tingling with divine ecstasy.
Baba said, "Jai Jai! Go now!" and told the priest, "Open it now." When the priest tried to open the door, it swung open at the slightest touch. The priest performed the *Aarti* and put Bihari Ji to rest. However, a thought weighed heavily on the priest's mind: "I tried so hard but failed to open the door, yet the moment Baba spoke, it opened."
The priest went to Gwariya Baba and said, "Baba, I swear to you by your friend—tell me the honest truth: what game did your friend play today?"
Gwariya Baba smiled and said, "Jai Jai! When you were trying to open the door for the *Bhog* offering, Bihari Ji was right here with me, eating those *modaks*." I hadn't even washed His face yet when You called out, "Clean His face; go and wash His face—there are remnants of the *modak* offering on it."
When Gosain-ji bathed and entered the temple, he saw that there were indeed remnants of the *modak* on Thakur-ji's face.
Truly, there is a profound, blissful mystery in the service of Thakur-ji! Claim Him as your own; there is joy in dedicating one's entire being to His service. Miraculous things happen through the grace of such service—things only a devotee of Shri Krishna can comprehend.
Others do not grasp these matters. A devotee of Krishna visualizes every story of Thakur-ji with the inner eye, finding bliss in that vision, and ceases to care about the world.
When one approaches Thakur-ji with a sincere heart, He orchestrates events in their life to reveal the true nature of those whom the devotee considers their own—those they wish to hold close forever. He quickly exposes the reality of such people. And truly, once a person has sincerely sought refuge in Thakur-ji, they no longer worry about the world; Thakur-ji Himself takes charge of their well-being.
