🍁एक दीपक से बदला पूरा जीवन🍁
सतयुग की बात है। हिमालय की तलहटी में स्थित एक सुंदर आश्रम में अनेक ऋषि-मुनि तपस्या किया करते थे। उसी आश्रम के पास ऋषि अत्रेय का आश्रम था। उनके दो शिष्य थे—सुमेध और मंदार।
दोनों ने वर्षों तक साथ रहकर वेद, शास्त्र और धनुर्वेद का अध्ययन किया। शिक्षा पूरी होने के बाद दोनों अपने-अपने जीवन में आगे बढ़ गए। सुमेध ने गुरु के उपदेशों का पालन किया। परिश्रम, अनुशासन और सेवा के बल पर वह एक प्रसिद्ध ऋषि बन गया। उसके आश्रम में दूर-दूर से लोग ज्ञान प्राप्त करने आते थे।
दूसरी ओर मंदार आलस्य का शिकार हो गया। उसने साधना छोड़ दी। उसका आश्रम उजड़ने लगा। चारों ओर सूखे पत्ते, धूल और मकड़ी के जाले छा गए। यज्ञशाला वीरान पड़ी रहती थी। उसके मन में भी निराशा और उदासी घर कर गई थी।
एक दिन सुमेध अपने पुराने मित्र से मिलने पहुँचा। उसने देखा कि आश्रम की दुर्दशा देखकर पक्षी भी वहाँ बैठना पसंद नहीं करते। मंदार ने एक टूटी-सी आसंदी पर बैठने का आग्रह किया, जिस पर धूल की मोटी परत जमी हुई थी।
सुमेध ने मुस्कुराकर कहा, "मित्र! यह आश्रम तो तप और पवित्रता का स्थान होता है। इसे इतना उपेक्षित क्यों छोड़ रखा है?"
मंदार बोला, "क्या लाभ? आज साफ करूँगा तो कुछ दिनों बाद फिर गंदा हो जाएगा।"
सुमेध ने उसे बहुत समझाया, लेकिन उसका मन नहीं बदला। विदा होते समय उसने अपने कमंडल से एक दिव्य घृत दीपक निकाला और कहा, "इसे प्रतिदिन संध्या के समय जला देना। बस इतना ही करना।"
मंदार ने बिना रुचि के दीपक को यज्ञशाला के कोने में रख दिया। उस संध्या जब उसने दीपक जलाया, तो उसकी स्वर्णिम ज्योति पूरे कक्ष में फैल गई। तभी उसे लगा कि दीपक के चारों ओर धूल और जाले अच्छे नहीं लग रहे।
अगले दिन उसने केवल दीपक के आसपास की जगह साफ कर दी। कुछ दिनों बाद आश्रम में आने वाले साधु कहने लगे, "दीपक की ज्योति तो दिव्य है, पर बाकी आश्रम इसकी शोभा के योग्य नहीं।"
यह बात मंदार के हृदय को छू गई। उसने धीरे-धीरे पूरी यज्ञशाला साफ की। फिर आँगन से सूखे पत्ते हटाए, पौधे लगाए और आश्रम की मरम्मत करवाई। कुछ ही समय में उसका आश्रम फिर से तपोभूमि बन गया।
आश्रम के बदलने के साथ-साथ मंदार का मन भी बदल गया। उसने नियमित जप, तप और स्वाध्याय आरंभ कर दिया। उसकी कीर्ति भी चारों दिशाओं में फैलने लगी। एक दिन वह अपने गुरु के चरणों में पहुँचा और बोला, "गुरुदेव! मेरा जीवन एक छोटे से दीपक ने बदल दिया।"
गुरु मुस्कुराए और बोले, "वत्स! परिवर्तन कभी बड़ा नहीं होता, वह एक छोटे से शुभ संकल्प से प्रारंभ होता है। जो व्यक्ति एक अच्छी आदत को दृढ़ता से अपनाता है, उसका जीवन स्वयं प्रकाशमय हो जाता है।"
शिक्षा :-
जीवन में परिवर्तन किसी बड़े चमत्कार से नहीं, बल्कि एक छोटी-सी अच्छी आदत से शुरू होता है। जैसे एक दीपक अंधकार मिटा देता है, वैसे ही एक अच्छा संस्कार पूरे जीवन को प्रकाशित कर सकता है।

🍁A Single Lamp Changed an Entire Life🍁
This is a story from the *Satya Yuga* (the Age of Truth). Many sages and seers used to perform penance in a beautiful ashram situated at the foothills of the Himalayas. Nearby stood the ashram of Sage Atreya, who had two disciples: Sumedh and Mandar.
The two lived together for years, studying the Vedas, scriptures, and the art of archery (*Dhanurveda*). After completing their education, they moved forward with their respective lives. Sumedh followed his guru's teachings; through hard work, discipline, and a spirit of service, he became a renowned sage. People traveled from far and wide to his ashram to seek knowledge.
Mandar, on the other hand, fell prey to lethargy. He abandoned his spiritual practices, and his ashram began to fall into ruin. Dry leaves, dust, and cobwebs covered everything; the sacrificial hall (*Yagya-shala*) lay desolate, and despair and gloom took root in his mind.
One day, Sumedh arrived to visit his old friend. He saw the ashram in such a wretched state that even birds avoided perching there. Mandar invited him to sit on a dilapidated seat covered in a thick layer of dust.
Smiling, Sumedh said, "Friend! An ashram is a place of penance and purity. Why have you left it so neglected?"
Mandar replied, "What is the use? If I clean it today, it will just get dirty again in a few days."
Sumedh tried hard to reason with him, but Mandar remained unmoved. As he was leaving, Sumedh took a divine lamp filled with *ghee* (clarified butter) from his water vessel (*kamandal*) and said, "Light this every evening at dusk. That is all you need to do."
Mandar placed the lamp in a corner of the sacrificial hall without much interest. That evening, when he lit the lamp, its golden glow spread throughout the room. Suddenly, he felt that the dust and cobwebs surrounding the lamp looked unsightly.
The next day, he cleaned the area immediately around the lamp. A few days later, visiting ascetics began to remark, "The lamp's glow is divine, but the rest of the ashram is unworthy of such splendor." These words touched Mandar's heart. He gradually cleaned the entire *yagyashala* (sacrificial hall). Then, he cleared dry leaves from the courtyard, planted saplings, and had the ashram repaired. Before long, the ashram was transformed once again into a sacred sanctuary of penance.
As the ashram underwent a transformation, so did Mandar's mind. He began practicing regular chanting, penance, and the study of scriptures. His renown began to spread in all directions. One day, he approached his Guru and said, "Gurudev! A small lamp transformed my life."
The Guru smiled and said, "My child! Transformation is never massive at the outset; it begins with a small, noble resolve. The life of a person who steadfastly adopts a good habit becomes radiant on its own."
Moral:
Transformation in life does not begin with a grand miracle, but rather with a small, good habit. Just as a single lamp dispels darkness, a single virtuous trait can illuminate one's entire life.
