चार अमूल्य रत्न🍁
एक शांत गाँव में एक वृद्ध संत रहते थे। दूर-दूर से लोग उनके पास जीवन की समस्याओं का समाधान पाने आते थे। संत का जीवन बहुत सादा था, लेकिन उनके विचार अनमोल थे। उम्र के अंतिम पड़ाव पर पहुँचकर उन्हें महसूस हुआ कि अब उनका समय अधिक शेष नहीं है। उन्होंने अपने चारों बेटों को अपने पास बुलाया।
चारों बेटे पिता के चरणों में बैठ गए। संत ने मुस्कुराते हुए कहा,
“बेटों, मेरे पास धन-दौलत तो नहीं है, लेकिन मैं तुम्हें चार ऐसे रत्न देना चाहता हूँ, जो तुम्हारे जीवन को सुख, शांति और आनंद से भर देंगे।”
बेटों ने उत्सुकता से पूछा, “पिताजी, वे कौन से रत्न हैं?”
संत ने धीरे-धीरे कहना शुरू किया—
पहला रत्न — माफी
संत बोले,
“यदि कोई तुम्हारा अपमान करे, बुरा कहे या तुम्हारे साथ गलत व्यवहार करे, तो उसके प्रति मन में बदले की भावना मत रखना। उसे क्षमा कर देना। क्रोध मन को जलाता है, जबकि माफी आत्मा को शांति देती है।”
फिर उन्होंने एक घटना सुनाई।
एक बार गाँव का एक व्यक्ति संत को बहुत अपशब्द कह रहा था। लेकिन संत शांत रहे। लोगों ने पूछा, “आपने उसे जवाब क्यों नहीं दिया?”
संत मुस्कुराए और बोले, “यदि कोई हमें उपहार दे और हम उसे स्वीकार न करें, तो वह उपहार किसके पास रहेगा? उसी प्रकार मैंने उसके कटु शब्द स्वीकार ही नहीं किए।”
चारों बेटे पिता की बात ध्यान से सुनते रहे।
दूसरा रत्न — भूल जाना
संत ने आगे कहा,
“यदि तुम किसी की मदद करो, तो उसे भूल जाओ। कभी यह उम्मीद मत रखना कि सामने वाला तुम्हारा उपकार लौटाएगा। सच्चा उपकार वही है, जिसमें प्रतिफल की इच्छा न हो।”
उन्होंने बताया कि एक बार उन्होंने एक गरीब किसान की सहायता की थी। वर्षों बाद वह किसान बड़ा व्यापारी बन गया, लेकिन उसने कभी संत को याद नहीं किया। फिर भी संत के मन में उसके लिए कोई शिकायत नहीं थी।
“क्योंकि,” संत बोले, “जिस उपकार को बार-बार याद किया जाए, वह व्यापार बन जाता है, सेवा नहीं।”
तीसरा रत्न — विश्वास
संत ने अपने बेटों का हाथ पकड़कर कहा,
“जीवन में सबसे बड़ी शक्ति विश्वास है। अपनी मेहनत और परमात्मा पर अटूट भरोसा रखो। कठिन समय में यही विश्वास तुम्हें संभालेगा।”
उन्होंने समझाया कि जीवन में कई बार इंसान मेहनत करता है, लेकिन सफलता देर से मिलती है। ऐसे समय में जो व्यक्ति विश्वास बनाए रखता है, वही अंततः विजय प्राप्त करता है।
“ईश्वर कभी किसी का परिश्रम व्यर्थ नहीं जाने देता,” संत ने कहा।
चौथा रत्न — वैराग्य
अब संत की आँखों में गहराई उतर आई।
उन्होंने कहा,
“यह संसार नश्वर है। एक दिन सबको इस दुनिया से जाना है। इसलिए धन, मोह और लोभ में इतना मत उलझो कि जीवन का आनंद ही खो दो।”
उन्होंने आगे कहा,
“जिस व्यक्ति का मन संतोष से भरा होता है, वही वास्तव में सबसे धनी होता है।”
चारों बेटे भावुक हो उठे। उन्होंने पिता के चरणों में सिर रख दिया। संत ने आशीर्वाद देते हुए कहा—
“जब तक तुम इन चार रत्नों — माफी, भूल जाना, विश्वास और वैराग्य — को अपने जीवन में संभालकर रखोगे, तब तक कोई भी दुख तुम्हें पराजित नहीं कर पाएगा।”
उस दिन के बाद चारों बेटों ने पिता की सीख को अपने जीवन का आधार बना लिया। समय बीतता गया, लेकिन वे सदैव शांत, प्रसन्न और संतुष्ट रहे।

The Four Precious Gems 🍁
In a peaceful village lived an elderly saint. People traveled from far and wide to seek his guidance and solutions to life's problems. His lifestyle was simple, but his wisdom was priceless.
All four sons sat respectfully at their father's feet. Smiling gently, the saint said,
"My sons, I do not have wealth or riches to leave behind, but I want to give you four precious gems that will fill your lives with happiness, peace, and joy."
Curiously, the sons asked, "Father, what are these precious gems?"
The saint began to explain them one by one.
The First Gem — Forgiveness
The saint said,
"If someone insults you, speaks harshly to you, or treats you unfairly, never hold feelings of revenge in your heart. Forgive them. Anger burns the mind, while forgiveness brings peace to the soul."
He then shared an incident.
Once, a villager showered the saint with harsh and insulting words. Yet the saint remained calm. The people around him asked,
"Why didn't you respond?"
The saint smiled and replied,
"If someone offers you a gift and you refuse to accept it, who does the gift belong to? Likewise, I simply chose not to accept his bitter words."
His sons listened carefully.
The Second Gem — Forgetting Your Good Deeds
The saint continued,
"Whenever you help someone, forget about it. Never expect them to repay your kindness. True charity is done without expecting anything in return."
He told them that once he had helped a poor farmer. Years later, the farmer became a wealthy businessman, but he never remembered the saint or expressed gratitude.
Still, the saint had no complaint.
"Because," he said, "when you keep reminding yourself of your kindness, it becomes a business transaction, not an act of service."
The Third Gem — Faith
Holding his sons' hands, the saint said,
"The greatest strength in life is faith. Have unwavering faith in your hard work and in God. During difficult times, this faith will keep you standing."
He explained that many people work hard, yet success often comes late. Those who continue believing despite setbacks are the ones who ultimately succeed.
"God never lets sincere effort go to waste," the saint said.
The Fourth Gem — Detachment
A deep serenity filled the saint's eyes as he spoke.
"This world is temporary. One day, everyone must leave it. So do not become so attached to wealth, possessions, greed, or worldly desires that you forget to truly live."
He added,
"The person whose heart is filled with contentment is the richest person of all."
The four sons became emotional and bowed at their father's feet.
Blessing them, the saint said,
"As long as you keep these four precious gems—Forgiveness, Forgetfulness of your own kindness, Faith, and Detachment—safe in your hearts, no sorrow will ever be able to defeat you."
From that day onward, the four brothers made their father's teachings the foundation of their lives. As the years passed, they remained peaceful, joyful, and content, carrying those four priceless gems within them forever.
