कुम्हार मुस्कुराए और बोले, “मैं हर घड़े को ऐसे बनाता हूँ जैसे यही मेरा सबसे अच्छा काम हो।” अर्जुन को यह बात समझ नहीं आई।
अगले दिन कुम्हार ने अर्जुन को अपने साथ काम करने के लिए बुलाया। उन्होंने उसे एक घड़ा बनाने को कहा। अर्जुन ने जल्दी-जल्दी काम किया और एक साधारण घड़ा बना दिया। फिर कुम्हार ने वही काम खुद किया—धीरे-धीरे, पूरी लगन और ध्यान से। उनका घड़ा न सिर्फ मजबूत था बल्कि देखने में भी बेहद सुंदर था।
कुम्हार ने अर्जुन से कहा, “बेटा, फर्क सिर्फ हाथों में नहीं, मन में होता है। जब तुम किसी काम को पूरी निष्ठा से करते हो, तो वह साधारण नहीं रहता।”
धीरे-धीरे उसका आत्मविश्वास बढ़ने लगा, उसके परिणाम बेहतर होने लगे और लोग भी उसकी तारीफ करने लगे। कुछ वर्षों बाद वही अर्जुन गाँव का सबसे सफल और सम्मानित व्यक्ति बन गया।
