एक दिन ठाकुर जी ने बाल रूप में प्रगट होते हुए उस इन्सान से पूछ ही लिया कि क्या तुम मन्दिर में केवल इसीलिए, काम करने आते हो, उस इन्सान ने भी पूरी ईमानदारी से कहा कि हां, मेरा उद्देश्य तो यही है कि मेरे पास ढेर सारा धन आ जाए, इसीलिए तो आपके दर्शन करने आता हूं, रेल की पटरी पर सामान बेचते बेचते थक गया हूं, पता नहीं, मेरे सुख के दिन कब आएंगे...
बाल रूप ठाकुर जी ने कहा कि, तुम चिंता मत करो, जल्द ही तुम्हारी इच्छा पूरी होने वाली हैं, समय पलट गया, वो धन कमाने लगा और इतना व्यस्त हो गया कि मन्दिर में जाना ही छूट गया, कई वर्षों बाद वह एक दिन सुबह ही मन्दिर पहुंचा और साफ-सफाई करने लगा...
ठाकुर जी फिर प्रगट हुए और उस व्यक्ति से बड़े ही आश्चर्य से पूछा, क्या बात है, इतने वर्षों के बाद आए हो, सुना है बहुत बड़े सेठ बन गए हो, वो व्यक्ति बोला, बहुत धन कमाया, अच्छे घरों में बच्चों का विवाह किया, पैसे की कोई कमी नहीं है पर दिल में चैन नहीं है, मन में ऐसा ख्याल आया करता था कि रोज सेवा करने आता रहूं, पर आ ना सका, व्यक्ति बोला, हे प्रभू, आपने मुझे सब कुछ दिया पर जिंदगी में चैन और शांति नहीं दिया...
प्रभू जी ने कहा कि तुमने वह मांगा ही कब था, जो तुमने मांगा वो तो तुम्हें मिल गया ना, फिर आज यहां क्या करने आए हो?
उसकी आंखों में आंसू भर आए, ठाकुर जी के चरणों में गिर पड़ा और बोला अब कुछ मांगने के लिए सेवा नहीं करूंगा, बस दिल को शांति मिल जाए, ठाकुर जी ने कहा पहले तय कर लो कि अब कुछ मागने के लिए मन्दिर की सेवा नहीं करोगे, बस मन की शांति के लिए ही आओगे...
सच में, मन की शांति सबसे अनमोल है और अपना कर्म करो, पर मनमें यह बात याद रखो जो प्राप्त है वह पर्याप्त है...

There once lived a poor man who would visit a nearby temple every day to clean the premises before heading off to his work. He would often pray to his Lord, saying, "Please grant me the grace to acquire immense wealth and fortune."
One day, the Lord—manifesting in the form of a divine child—asked the man, "Do you come to the temple to perform these duties solely for that reason?" The man replied with complete honesty, "Yes, that is indeed my objective—to acquire abundant wealth. That is precisely why I come to seek your blessings. I have grown weary of selling goods along the railway tracks; I do not know when my days of comfort and happiness will finally arrive."
The Lord, in His childlike form, reassured him, "Do not worry; your wish is soon to be fulfilled." Time passed, and the man began to earn wealth; he became so engrossed in his work that he eventually stopped visiting the temple altogether. Many years later, one morning, he arrived at the temple once again and began to clean the premises.
The Lord appeared before him once more and asked the man with great astonishment, "What brings you here? You have returned after so many years. I have heard that you have become a very wealthy merchant." The man replied, "I have indeed earned a great fortune; I have arranged excellent marriages for my children, and I lack nothing in terms of money. Yet, there is no peace in my heart. I often thought to myself that I should continue coming here daily to offer my service, but I was unable to do so." The man continued, "Oh Lord, You gave me everything, but You did not grant me peace and tranquility in my life."
The Lord replied, "But when did you ever ask for that? You received exactly what you asked for, did you not? Then what have you come here to do today?"
Tears welled up in the man's eyes; he fell at the Lord's feet and said, "From now on, I will not offer my service with the intention of asking for anything. I seek only peace for my heart." The Lord responded, "First, make a firm resolve that you will no longer serve the temple with the aim of asking for material things, but will come solely to attain peace of mind."
Truly, peace of mind is the most precious treasure of all. Perform your duties diligently, but always keep this truth in your heart: what you have received is sufficient.
