बहुत समय पहले की बात है। एक छोटे से गाँव के बाहर जंगल के किनारे एक बूढ़े बाबा रहते थे। लोग उन्हें रामदास बाबा कहते थे।
बाबा बहुत गरीब थे, लेकिन भगवान के बहुत बड़े भक्त थे। रोज सुबह उठकर नदी में स्नान करते, फिर भगवान का नाम जपते और मंदिर में दीप जलाते थे।
गाँव वाले भी बाबा का बहुत सम्मान करते थे, क्योंकि बाबा हमेशा लोगों को भलाई और भगवान का रास्ता दिखाते थे।
समय बीतता गया और बाबा बहुत बूढ़े हो गए।
एक दिन बाबा बहुत बीमार पड़ गए। उनके पास दवा कराने के लिए पैसे भी नहीं थे और शरीर इतना कमजोर हो गया था कि उठ भी नहीं पा रहे थे।
उस रात बाबा अपनी झोपड़ी में लेटे-लेटे भगवान से बोले—
“हे प्रभु! मैंने पूरी जिंदगी आपका नाम लिया, लोगों की सेवा की।
अब शरीर साथ नहीं दे रहा… अगर आप चाहो तो मुझे अपने पास बुला लो।”
बाबा की आँखों से आँसू बहने लगे।
अचानक आधी रात को झोपड़ी में एक तेज प्रकाश फैल गया।
बाबा ने आँखें खोलीं तो देखा कि सामने भगवान खड़े हैं।
भगवान मुस्कुराकर बोले—
“बाबा, तुमने पूरी जिंदगी मेरा नाम लिया है, इसलिए मैं तुम्हें लेने नहीं बल्कि तुम्हें देखने आया हूँ।”
बाबा रोते हुए बोले—
“प्रभु! अब शरीर बहुत दुख देता है, मैं क्या करूँ?”
भगवान ने बाबा के सिर पर हाथ रखा और बोले—
“जिसने जीवन भर दूसरों का दुख दूर किया हो, उसका दुख मैं कैसे देख सकता हूँ?”
जैसे ही भगवान ने आशीर्वाद दिया, बाबा का दर्द कम होने लगा। उनके चेहरे पर शांति आ गई।
भगवान ने कहा—
“सच्ची भक्ति मंदिरों में नहीं, बल्कि दया और सेवा में होती है।
तुमने जो किया है, वही सबसे बड़ी पूजा है।”
यह कहकर भगवान अदृश्य हो गए।
अगली सुबह जब गाँव वाले बाबा को देखने आए, तो उन्होंने देखा कि बाबा के चेहरे पर अद्भुत शांति थी।
बाबा मुस्कुरा रहे थे और भगवान का नाम जप रहे थे।
उस दिन गाँव वालों को समझ आ गया—
✨ जो इंसान सच्चे दिल से भगवान को याद करता है और दूसरों की मदद करता है, भगवान कभी उसे अकेला नहीं छोड़ते।

It happened a long time ago. On the outskirts of a small village, right at the edge of the forest, lived an old sage. People called him Ramdas Baba.
Baba was very poor, yet he was a devout worshipper of God. Every morning, he would rise, bathe in the river, chant the name of God, and light a lamp in the temple.
The villagers, too, held Baba in high esteem, for he always guided people toward righteousness and the path of God.
As time passed, Baba grew very old.
One day, Baba fell gravely ill. He had no money to pay for medical treatment, and his body had become so frail that he could not even rise from his bed.
That night, lying in his hut, Baba spoke to God:
“Oh Lord! I have spent my entire life chanting Your name and serving others.
Now, my body no longer supports me... If it be Your will, please call me home to Your side.”
Tears began to stream from Baba’s eyes.
Suddenly, in the dead of night, a brilliant light filled the hut.
When Baba opened his eyes, he saw God standing right before him.
Smiling gently, God spoke:
“Baba, you have chanted My name your entire life; therefore, I have not come to take you away, but simply to see you.”
Weeping, Baba replied:
“Oh Lord! My body causes me such pain now; what am I to do?”
God placed His hand upon Baba’s head and said:
“How could I bear to witness the suffering of one who has spent a lifetime alleviating the suffering of others?”
The moment God bestowed His blessing, Baba’s pain began to subside. A profound peace settled upon his face.
God then said:
“True devotion lies not within temples, but in compassion and service.
What you have done—that, indeed, is the greatest form of worship.”
Having spoken these words, God vanished from sight.
The following morning, when the villagers came to check on Baba, they observed an extraordinary serenity upon his face.
Baba was smiling and softly chanting the name of God.
On that day, the villagers came to a realization:
