Sudama's Secret Sacrifice: सुदामा ने चोरी से चने क्यों खाए? जानिये इस महान त्याग का रहस्य!

🌹मेरे मन में सुदामा के सम्बन्ध में एक बड़ी शंका थी कि एक विद्वान् ब्राह्मण जो जीवन भर कष्ट भोगता रहा अपने बाल सखा कृष्ण से छुपाकर चने कैसे खा सकता है ..?🌹
आज एक भुदेव् की कृपा से ज्ञात हुआ तो सोचा आप सबका भी ज्ञान वर्धन करूँ इसके पीछे की कथा बताकर...
बताते हैं सुदामा की दरिद्रता, और चने की चोरी के पीछे एक बहुत ही रोचक और त्याग-पूर्ण कथा है- एक अत्यंत गरीब निर्धन बुढ़िया भिक्षा माँग कर जीवन यापन करती थी। एक समय ऐसा आया कि पाँच दिन तक उसे भिक्षा नही मिली वह प्रति दिन पानी पीकर भगवान का नाम लेकर सो जाती थी। छठवें दिन उसे भिक्षा में दो मुट्ठी चने मिले। कुटिया पे पहुँचते-पहुँचते उसे रात हो गयी। बुढ़िया ने सोंचा अब ये चने रात मे नही, प्रात:काल वासुदेव को भोग लगाकर खाऊँगी ।
यह सोंचकर उसने चनों को कपडे में बाँधकर रख दिए और वासुदेव का नाम जपते-जपते सो गयी। बुढ़िया के सोने के बाद कुछ चोर चोरी करने के लिए उसकी कुटिया मे आ गये।
चोरों ने चनों की पोटली देख कर समझा इसमे सोने के सिक्के हैं अतः उसे उठा लिया। चोरो की आहट सुनकर बुढ़िया जाग गयी और शोर मचाने लगी ।शोर-शराबा सुनकर गाँव के सारे लोग चोरों को पकडने के लिए दौडे। चने की पोटली लेकर भागे चोर पकडे जाने के डर से संदीपन मुनि के आश्रम में छिप गये। इसी संदीपन मुनि के आश्रम में भगवान श्री कृष्ण और सुदामा शिक्षा ग्रहण कर रहे थे। चोरों की आहट सुनकर गुरुमाता को लगा की कोई आश्रम के अन्दर आया है गुरुमाता ने पुकारा- कौन है ?? गुरुमाता को अपनी ओर आता देख चोर चने की पोटली छोड़कर वहां से भाग गये।
इधर भूख से व्याकुल बुढ़िया ने जब जाना ! कि उसकी चने की पोटली चोर उठा ले गए हैं तो उसने श्राप दे दिया- "
मुझ दीनहीन असहाय के चने जो भी खायेगा वह दरिद्र हो जायेगा " ।
उधर प्रात:काल आश्रम में झाडू लगाते समय गुरुमाता को वही चने की पोटली मिली। गुरु माता ने पोटली खोल के देखी तो उसमे चने थे। उसी समय सुदामा जी और श्री कृष्ण जंगल से लकडी लाने जा रहे थे।
गुरुमाता ने वह चने की पोटली सुदामा को देते हुए कहा बेटा ! जब भूख लगे तो दोनो यह चने खा लेना ।
सुदामा जन्मजात ब्रह्मज्ञानी थे। उन्होंने ज्यों ही चने की पोटली हाथ मे ली, सारा रहस्य जान गए।
सुदामा ने सोचा- गुरुमाता ने कहा है यह चने दोनो लोग बराबर बाँट के खाना,
लेकिन ये चने अगर मैने त्रिभुवनपति श्री कृष्ण को खिला दिये तो मेरे प्रभु के साथ साथ तीनो लोक दरिद्र हो जाएंगे। नही-नही मै ऐसा नही होने दूँगा। मेरे जीवित रहते मेरे प्रभु दरिद्र हो जायें मै ऐसा कदापि नही करुँगा। मै ये चने स्वयं खा लूँगा लेकिन कृष्ण को नही खाने दूँगा और सुदामा ने कृष्ण से छुपाकर सारे चने खुद खा लिए।
अभिशापित चने खाकर सुदामा ने स्वयं दरिद्रता ओढ़ ली लेकिन अपने मित्र श्री कृष्ण को बचा लिया।
अद्वितीय त्याग का उदाहरण प्रस्तुत करने वाले सुदामा, चोरी-छुपे चने खाने का अपयश भी झेलें तो यह बहुत अन्याय है पर आज मन की इस गहन शंका का निवारण हो गया....!

Today, thanks to the grace of a revered Brahmin, I learned the truth; I thought I would share this knowledge with all of you by recounting the story behind it...
It is said that behind Sudama's poverty—and the incident of the stolen chickpeas—lies a deeply fascinating and selfless tale. There once lived an extremely poor and destitute old woman who eked out a living by begging for alms. A time came when she received no alms for five consecutive days; each day, she would simply drink water, chant the name of God, and go to sleep. On the sixth day, she received two handfuls of chickpeas as alms. By the time she reached her humble hut, night had fallen. The old woman thought to herself, "I shall not eat these chickpeas tonight; instead, I will offer them as *Bhog* (sacred food offering) to Lord Vasudeva at dawn tomorrow before partaking of them myself."
With this thought, she tied the chickpeas in a cloth bundle, set it aside, and drifted off to sleep while chanting the name of Vasudeva. After the old woman had fallen asleep, some thieves broke into her hut with the intent to steal.
Upon spotting the bundle of chickpeas, the thieves assumed it contained gold coins, so they snatched it up. Hearing the commotion caused by the thieves, the old woman woke up and began to raise an alarm. Hearing the outcry, the entire village rushed out to apprehend the thieves. Fleeing with the bundle of chickpeas, the thieves—terrified of being caught—sought refuge inside the *Ashram* (hermitage) of Sage Sandipani. It was in this very Ashram of Sage Sandipani that Lord Shri Krishna and Sudama were currently pursuing their studies. Hearing the sounds made by the thieves, the *Gurumata* (the Guru's wife) sensed that someone had intruded into the Ashram. She called out, "Who is there?" Seeing the Gurumata approaching them, the thieves abandoned the bundle of chickpeas and fled the scene.
Meanwhile, the old woman—tormented by hunger—when she realized... ...that thieves had stolen his small sack of chickpeas, he pronounced a curse:
"Whoever consumes the chickpeas belonging to a destitute, helpless wretch like me shall be condemned to poverty."
Meanwhile, early that morning, while sweeping the ashram grounds, Gurumata (the Guru's wife) stumbled upon that very sack of chickpeas. She opened the sack to inspect its contents and found—lo and behold—that it was filled with chickpeas. At that very moment, Sudama and Shri Krishna were setting out into the forest to gather firewood.
Handing the sack of chickpeas to Sudama, Gurumata said, "My son, whenever hunger strikes, you two must share and eat these chickpeas."
Sudama was a *Brahmagyani*—one possessed of innate divine wisdom—from birth. The instant he took the sack of chickpeas into his hands, he grasped the entire underlying mystery.
Sudama reasoned: "Gurumata instructed us to share these chickpeas equally between the two of us.
"However, if I were to feed these chickpeas to the Lord of the Three Worlds—Shri Krishna—then, along with my Lord, all three realms of existence would be plunged into poverty. No—no! I cannot allow that to happen. As long as I draw breath, I shall never permit my Lord to suffer the indignity of poverty." Thus resolved, Sudama—concealing his actions from Krishna—ate every single chickpea himself.
By consuming the accursed chickpeas, Sudama willingly embraced poverty upon himself, thereby saving his beloved friend, Shri Krishna.
It would be a grave injustice if Sudama—who stands as a peerless exemplar of self-sacrifice—were to also have to bear the stigma of having furtively eaten the chickpeas in secret; yet today, that deep-seated doubt within my heart has finally been dispelled!
