दिन एक दंपत्ति अपने 10 साल के बच्चे को लेकर डॉक्टर के पास आया। उन्होंने फ़ाइल डॉक्टर साहब की टेबल पर रखी। डॉक्टर ने फ़ाइल देखी और बच्चे की जाँच की। फिर डॉक्टर ने बच्चे से कहा, “बेटा, तुम थोड़ा बाहर बैठो, मैं तुम्हारे मम्मी-पापा से बात करता हूँ।”
माता-पिता बोले, “साहब, उसे सब पता है, इसलिए आप हमारी चर्चा उसी के सामने कर सकते हैं।”
डॉक्टर बोले, “मैंने पहली बार ऐसा परिवार देखा है जिनके चेहरे पर डर नहीं है।”
उन्होंने कहा, “साहब, शुरू में हम भी बहुत परेशान थे, लेकिन धीरे-धीरे भगवान पर भरोसे और विश्वास से हम तीनों का मनोबल मजबूत होता गया।”
डॉक्टर ने कहा, “देखिए, बच्चे के दिल की सर्जरी करनी पड़ेगी। मामला गंभीर है। 50-50 संभावना है। अगर सफल हुआ तो ज़िंदगी भर दिल की तकलीफ़ नहीं होगी, और अगर सफल न हुआ… तो आप समझ ही रहे हैं…”
माता-पिता बोले, “तो हमें क्या करना चाहिए?”
डॉक्टर ने कहा, “मेरे अनुसार मरते-मरते जीने से बेहतर है कि एक बार जोखिम उठा लिया जाए।”
वे डॉक्टर से सहमत हो गए।
जब उन्होंने डॉक्टर से शुल्क पूछा, तो डॉक्टर बोले, “आम तौर पर मैं एडवांस लेता हूँ, लेकिन आपके केस में ऑपरेशन के बाद बात करेंगे।” और उन्होंने तारीख दे दी।
ऑपरेशन के दिन बच्चा और माता-पिता समय पर पहुँचे। किसी के चेहरे पर डर नहीं था। वे बहुत शांत थे। यह केस डॉक्टर के जीवन का एक उदाहरण बन गया।
ऑपरेशन थिएटर में बच्चे को टेबल पर लिटाया गया। एनेस्थीसिया देने से पहले डॉक्टर ने उसके सिर पर हाथ फेरते हुए प्यार से पूछा,
“बेटा, तुम्हारा नाम क्या है?”
बच्चे ने मुस्कुराकर कहा, “आनंद।”
डॉक्टर ने मज़ाक में कहा, “बेटा, तुम्हारे नाम की तरह ही तुम हमेशा आनंद में रहो। ऑपरेशन शुरू करने से पहले कुछ कहना है?”
बच्चा बोला, “साहब, दिल क्या होता है?”
डॉक्टर बोले, “बेटा, दिल यानी हृदय, जिसकी सर्जरी आज हम करेंगे।”
मेरा दिल खोलें, तो ज़रा देखना कि मेरे अंदर बैठे राम कैसे हैं, फिर मुझे बताना कि वे कैसे दिखते हैं।”
डॉक्टर की आँखें भर आईं।
डॉक्टर ने अपने स्टाफ को पूरा केस पहले ही समझा दिया था, इसलिए सबकी आँखें नम हो गईं।
डॉक्टर बोले, “हज़ारों ऑपरेशन मैंने किए हैं, लेकिन पता नहीं क्यों, इस बच्चे का ऑपरेशन करते हुए मेरा मन और हाथ काँप रहे हैं।”
उन्होंने आँखें बंद कीं और भगवान से प्रार्थना की—
“अब तक मैंने हर ऑपरेशन को पेशे की तरह किया है,
पर यह ऑपरेशन श्रद्धा और विश्वास पर आधारित है।
मैं तो बस दिल की सर्जरी करता हूँ,
पर तू ही उसका सर्जन है।
मेरे इस प्रयास को सफल बना।”
कहकर उन्होंने ऑपरेशन शुरू किया।
ऑपरेशन आगे बढ़ रहा था, सफलता की पूरी संभावना थी,
लेकिन अचानक बच्चे का ब्लड प्रेशर गिरने लगा, शरीर ठंडा पड़ने लगा, और अंत में… सब शांत हो गया।
डॉक्टर की आँखों में आँसू आ गए —
“हे भगवान! तू जीत गया, मैं हार गया…”
कहकर उन्होंने थिएटर की सारी लाइटें ऑन कीं और हाथ धोने लगे।
तभी अचानक उन्हें बच्चे के शब्द याद आए —
“जब मेरा दिल खोलो तो देखना, राम कैसे हैं…”
डॉक्टर तुरंत बच्चे के दिल की ओर देखे और ज़ोर से बोले —
“क्या तुम्हें राम दिख रहे हैं?”
इतना कहते ही एक अद्भुत चेतना बच्चे के दिल में लौट आई,
दिल फिर से धड़कने लगा!
पूरा स्टाफ खुशी से चिल्ला उठा —
“जय श्री राम!”
ऑपरेशन पूरा हुआ और बच्चा बच गया।
डॉक्टर ने फीस नहीं ली और कहा —
“हज़ारों ऑपरेशन किए,
पर कभी यह नहीं सोचा कि राम कहाँ हैं?
इस बच्चे ने आज मुझे दिखा दिया कि राम हमारे दिल में रहते हैं।”

One day, a couple came to see a doctor, bringing along their ten-year-old child. They placed the medical file on the doctor's desk. The doctor reviewed the file and examined the child. Then, the doctor said to the child, "Son, why don't you wait outside for a little while? I need to speak with your parents."
The parents replied, "Doctor, he already knows everything, so you can feel free to discuss this in his presence."
The doctor remarked, "This is the first time I have ever seen a family where there is absolutely no fear visible on their faces."
They explained, "Doctor, initially we were very distressed as well; however, gradually—through our faith and trust in God—the morale of all three of us grew stronger."
The doctor said, "Look, the child will require heart surgery. The situation is critical; it is a 50-50 chance. If the surgery is successful, he will be free from heart-related ailments for the rest of his life; but if it is not successful... well, I’m sure you understand..."
The parents asked, "So, what do you think we should do?"
The doctor replied, "In my opinion, rather than living a life of slow decline, it is better to take the risk once and for all."
They agreed with the doctor.
When they asked the doctor about his fees, he replied, "Typically, I require an advance payment, but in your case, we can discuss the financial details after the operation is complete." He then scheduled a date for the procedure.
On the day of the operation, the child and his parents arrived right on time. There was no trace of fear on anyone's face; they remained remarkably calm. This particular case went on to become a defining moment in the doctor's professional life.
Inside the operating theater, the child was laid down on the surgical table. Before administering the anesthesia, the doctor gently stroked the child's head and asked affectionately,
"Son, what is your name?"
The child smiled and replied, "Anand."
The doctor said playfully, "Son, just like your name suggests, may you always remain in a state of 'Anand'—of joy and bliss. Do you have anything you’d like to say before we begin the operation?"
The child asked, "Doctor, what exactly is a 'heart'?"
The doctor replied, "Son, the heart—that is, the *hridaya*—is the very organ we are about to operate on today." The child said, “Sir, Mom and Dad always say that Ram resides in every human being's heart.
So, when you open my heart, please take a look at Ram—who sits inside me—is like; then, tell me what He looks like.”
The doctor’s eyes welled up with tears.
The doctor had already explained the entire case to his staff beforehand, so everyone’s eyes grew moist with emotion.
The doctor said, “I have performed thousands of operations, yet for some reason, as I undertake this child’s surgery, both my mind and my hands are trembling.”
He closed his eyes and offered a prayer to God:
“Until now, I have approached every operation merely as a professional duty;
but this operation is grounded in faith and devotion.
I may be the one performing the heart surgery,
but You alone are the true Surgeon.
Please grant success to this endeavor of mine.”
Having said this, he began the operation.
The surgery was progressing well, and there was every indication of success;
but suddenly, the child’s blood pressure began to plummet, his body grew cold, and finally... all went silent.
Tears streamed down the doctor’s face—
“Oh God! You have won; I have lost...”
Saying this, he switched on all the lights in the operating theater and began to wash his hands.
Just then, the child’s words suddenly flashed through his mind—
“When you open my heart, take a look... see what Ram is like...”
The doctor immediately turned his gaze toward the child’s heart and called out loudly—
“Can you see Ram?”
The moment he uttered these words, a miraculous spark of consciousness returned to the child’s heart;
the heart began to beat once again!
The entire staff erupted in shouts of joy—
“Jai Shri Ram!”
The operation was completed successfully, and the child survived.
The doctor declined to accept any fee and said—
“I have performed thousands of operations,
yet never once did I stop to wonder: ‘Where is Ram?’
Today, this child has shown me that Ram truly resides within our hearts.”
When we close the doors of our intellect, God opens His own doors for us.
