एक आदमी ने एक बहुत ही खूबसूरत लड़की से शादी की। शादी के बाद दोनो की ज़िन्दगी बहुत प्यार से गुजर रही थी। वह उसे बहुत चाहता था और उसकी खूबसूरती की हमेशा तारीफ़ किया करता था।
इस बीच एकदिन पति को किसी काम से शहर से बाहर जाना पड़ा। काम ख़त्म कर जब वह घर वापस लौट रहा था, उसका एक्सीडेंट हो गया। एक्सीडेंट में उसने अपनी दोनो आँखें खो दी। लेकिन इसके बावजूद भी उन दोनो की जिंदगी सामान्य तरीके से आगे बढ़ती रही।
वह उसे उसी तरह प्यार करता रहा। एकदिन उस लड़की की मौत हो गई। पति अब अकेला हो गया था। वह बहुत दु:खी था. वह उस शहर को छोड़कर जाना चाहता था।
उसने अंतिम संस्कार की सारी क्रियाविधि पूर्ण की और शहर छोड़कर जाने लगा. तभी एक आदमी ने पीछे से उसे पुकारा और पास आकर कहा, “अब तुम बिना सहारे के अकेले कैसे चल पाओगे? इतने साल तो तुम्हारी पत्नितुम्हारी मदद किया करती थी.
इसलिए मैंने इतने साल अंधे होने का दिखावा किया. वह बहुत अच्छी पत्नि थी. मैं बस उसे खुश रखना चाहता था.
